The Lakewood Library will remain closed Friday, July 29, for what county officials are describing as “precautionary maintenance in the interest of safety for patrons, visitors, and
staffers.”
The closure stems from the July 27 discovery of bed bugs in a drop box located outside
the building.
Library officials proactively authorized the building’s closure the same day.
Inspection of the building and grounds indicated no insects beyond the external drop
boxes.
However, it was determined that pre-emptive measures would ensure safety and
security for patrons and staffers.
On Thursday, library facilities workers assessed the building’s interior, created a
precautionary action plan, and contracted vendors for cleaning and pest control.
Patrons are welcome to use the Library’s online resources, databases, eBooks,
eMagazines, video and audio streams and digital classes. They are available
continuously at www.theoceancountylibrary.org.
