  1. Lakewood Resident Asks The Mayor To Use Recently-Acquired Park Grants to Purchase “New Traffic Lights for That Ridiculously-Congested Intersection”
Lakewood resident, Oscar Lichtburg, sent an urgent request to Mayor Ray Coles asking him to utilize the recently-acquired recreational park grants to purchase “some brand new traffic lights for that ridiculously-congested intersection.”
“I think I’ll survive without a new set of swings or a new set of monkey bars,” Mr. Lichtburg wrote in a comment posted Monday on TLS’s “Ask the Mayor’ forum, “but I desperately need a new set of traffic lights at that crazy and busy intersection.”
“Nothing will happen to me if I don’t get brand new slides or seesaws erected at the park,” Mr . Lichtburg wrote, “but, my boss will definitely fire me if I keep coming late to work due to the lack of traffic lights.”
“Mr. Mayor, what is more important to you,” Mr. Lichtburg asked the Mayor, “ensuring that I’m still gainfully employed tomorrow, or ensuring that the park has a few more benches for the birds to poop on?”
