PHOTO: A gas station attendant was stabbed during an overnight robbery, TLS has learned.
Police say at approximately 3 A.M. a man armed with a knife approached a gas station attendant at the Sunoco on River Avenue, but a struggle ensued, and the attendant ended up with a knife wound to his arm. Nothing was taken during the robbery.
The victim was treated and then transported by EMS to MMCSC with non life-threatening injuries.
Lakewood’s Detective Bureau, the Sheriff’s Department and K9 responded to the scene, and a short while later apprehended the suspect, police say. Information on the suspect is not currently being released as it’s an active case, police say.
UPDATE: Police released the following information in reference to the robbery:
On September 24, at approximately 3:00 am Officer Michael Marzocca responded to the Sunoco Gas Station located at 741 River Avenue regarding an armed robbery.
Upon arrival, the victim a 27 year old gas attendant, reported that he was sitting in the kiosk when an unknown male armed with a knife forced his way in and began to fight with him.
During the struggle, the victim was able to defend himself and push the man back out of the booth, but not before sustaining a laceration to his right hand.
The suspect then fled the area and was last seen wearing black pants and a white shirt.
Officer Eric Vega observed a man matching that description in the area of 200 River Avenue.
While speaking the man, identified as 29 year old David Alloca of Jackson, Officer Vega noticed what appeared to be blood on his shirt.
Further investigation conducted by Det. Craig Fink and Officer Charles Messer resulted in charges against Alloca for Armed Robbery, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.
Bail was set by the Honorable Judge Scott Basen in the amount of $95,000 no 10%.

If attendant had a carry permit for a weapon, robbery attempt would have probably be prevented.
@airborne-the attempt would have still taken place possibly with a different outcome. FYI, one form requires a explanation for needing that type permit, ie probable danger, armed security.
