PHOTOS & VIDEO: Lakewood First Aid this morning took delivery of their new – long-awaited – Ambulance. The Ambulance, partially funded by the UEZ, will replace an older Ambulance which was nearly unusable, says Lakewood First Aid.
Using an old ‘box’ – which was stripped and remounted – saved the squad about $50,000.
The First Aid Squad does approximately 600 transports a year, and serves as the backup squad for the Township’s EMS service. The squad also performs extrications.
On hand to welcome the new Ambulance this morning, was Lakewood First Aid’s newly elected president Raphael Lasry, as well as 4th Sergeant Mordy Twerski. TLS.

it is so nice that we have so many volunteers in the community.
awesome !! lets hope we don’t need to use it
I would like to thank my fellow squad members and the support of the township for making this happen. This new rig will allow us to continue to come to the aid of the people of Lakewood for many years to come.
Why can’t they paint all the ambulances the same way…

New Ambulance New Look aren’t you tired of seeing the old colors, yet??
No thanks, that color scheme is awful!! Keep the color scheme the same way it’s been for decades. Why change history. Let’s hope they can keep it clean and running, not like the other volunteer rigs.
Are you suggesting that Honda, Toyota and every other car manufacture should not update their styles and should keep the same old look forever? Thats the most ridiculous statement I heard so far this month! You might be the winner for January 2012!
nice rig,,(moderated) and yes it is nice to know there are still Volunteer’s in this town where everyday the volunteer’s are questioned by those who choose only to talk about them but not volunteer themselfs
Change is a good thing. The design is the design all new rigs are going too. As too taking care of the rig. Any rig that is in service for 13 yrs for the chasis and 30 years for the box breaks down no matter what is done.
Why does negative statements have to be made when something good and long over due has happened? I know from how much work went in to this, how hard and how much time went in to making this a reality. That said, thank you to the Mayor and all the committeman for your total support.
The color scheme is excellent!! I’m sure I’ll being seeing other ambulances copy this one!
I think the colors are rather nice. Nicer than the LPD cars that keep on changing every time they fill up with gas
Why wasn’t the Mayor on hand? Wasn’t it the Mayor who gave them the grant?
No. It was not the mayor. It was the township committee as a whole that gave it to them.
Would like update’s on how many calls, responded too, and damage done through lifetime of vehicle. grant money, what happened to donating never seen these volunteer companies out pan handling streets for money.
What are you saying?
