Lakewood First Aid Saves Drug Overdose Victim with Narcan

narcanA man who went unconscious from an apparent overdose was saved last night by the Narcan antidote, officials tell TLS.

Police received a call last night reporting a man unconscious behind the wheel of his vehicle, apparently as a result of a Heroin overdose.

Upon arrival, Lakewood First Aid members and EMS found the approximately 27 year-old Howell man unconscious, and barely breathing, sources say.

Upon learning of the overdose, Lakewood First Aid ‎members administered the Narcan antidote, which almost instantly began reversing the effects of the drug.

The man was transported to Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus, where he reportedly arrived alert and conscious.

The Narcan antidote, introduced to the County by the County Prosecutor Joseph Coronato, has already saved dozens of lives throughout the County and State.

The nasal spray was initially only carried by police officers, but later approved for carry by EMTs throughout the state.

  1. Unbelievable how we spend money on trash like this. It’s a good thing he overdosed otherwise he would have been driving high on heroine
If he doesn’t care about himself or others why should we care about him

  2. It’s amazing how many have so much negative feelings about this. What if one of your loved ones was so afflicted? The disease of addiction can strike any community, family or individual at anytime.
