Lakewood Fire Department’s Zach Sharp, who holds the rank of First Lieutenant, has been hired by the Ocean County Fire Marshal and will commence his duties in that position on Tuesday.
Zach, a firefighter for 14 years, first joined the Jackson Mills Fire Department in 2007 before becoming a Lakewood Fire Department volunteer in 2013. He has been noted for his work ethic, professionalism, and devotion to the communities he serves, and insiders say it is no surprise that he is moving up the career ladder at the Fire Marshal’s office.
Mr. Sharp, who comes from a family of firefighters, told TLS that he is excited to begin this new chapter of his service to the community.
“I will strive to keep the Lakewood community and all Ocean County jurisdictions safe in my position as a Fire Marshal,” Sharp said. “I am really looking forward to working further with the Lakewood community, in which I already serve as a firefighter, to keep educating and assisting with fire code compliance and fire prevention methods and education.”
LFD Chief Mike D’Elia extended his congratulations to Mr. Sharp upon starting his new position.
“I would like to personally congratulate Zach Sharp from Reliance Hose Company #4, AKA Engine 4, upon his recent hiring to the Ocean County Fire Marshal’s office,” D’Elia said. “Mr. Sharp will do a fine job representing the County which services many municipalities throughout Ocean County, including Lakewood.”
