The Lakewood Board of Fire Commissioners along with Fire Chief Jonathan Yahr today announced its recent success in securing a $75,000.00 grant as part of the American Rescue Plan Firefighters Grant.
This substantial funding, secured at no cost to the fire district, will be dedicated to the acquisition of critical Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for our dedicated firefighting personnel.
The Department stated, “The grant underscores the federal and state government’s commitment to enhancing the safety and preparedness of our local firefighting forces. The Lakewood Board of Fire Commissioners expresses its gratitude for this invaluable support, which will significantly bolster our capacity to respond to emergencies and protect both our firefighters and the community.”
“This funding, obtained without any financial burden on the fire district, will play a pivotal role in ensuring our firefighters have access to state-of-the-art PPE, furthering our mission to uphold the highest standards of safety and preparedness. As stewards of public safety, the Lakewood Board of Fire Commissioners remains dedicated to continually improving our capabilities and resources.”

“secured at no cost to the fire district” — Well, perhaps you do not know but the government does not have any money of it’s own. All the money the government uses comes from taxpayers. Therefore, you, and every other taxpayer, is paying a small amount towards this $75,000, whether you like it or not. So do not think this is something “FREE” from the government.
