A ridiculous law. What’s more, they charge you for the sticker.

what is the purpose of this? anyone know?
i know parents of teens are concerned cuz those stickers advertise that there is a young kid in there alone and they can be targeted by predators. it seems unsafe to me.

Stupid silly law, created by lawmakers with to much time on their hands, who fell like they’ve done a wonderful deed.

All it is, is a target for predators.

How is it a target for predators? It doesn’t advertise that a teen driver IS currently driving, rather than the COULD be currently driving (as could the other drivers of the vehicle). And it’s not as though simply looking at the driver doesn’t tell you far more than a sticker ever would. Think! It may or may not be a ridiculous waste of legislative initiative and taxpayer money, but it’s not automatically fodder for predators because some other anonymous commentor said it was.

why cant the sticker be for any **new driver of any age group . why pick on teenagers?

5: Teen drivers have been shown to be more easily distracted than inexperienced drivers of other age groups. In many states, teen drivers are not allowed to transport other teens, drive at night, drive on interstate highways, etc., for precisely this reason.

So if I were to buy this sticker, put it on my van, and my new teen driver goes driving with it on, they can easily stop somewhere and REMOVE it! It’s not only the new teens who we should be looking out for. It’s everyone who still drives while texting! This sticker just says look at the driver-“I may be new at this”! It’s not going to prevent the same accidents that occur on a daily basis.

Why not just raise the age for when a teen can drive? That way there will be no more teen drivers causing accidents, only stupid adults who can’t drive.

to # 4 and what about the predator that waits in a dark parking lot for the single young driver to approach their vehicle and then attacks that person. The sticker advertises a single driver coming back to that vehicle.

#9: No it doesn’t. The sticker remains on the vehicle even if the teen’s parent is driving. It doesn’t tell a potential predator any more than a carseat, a graduation tassle hanging from the mirror, certain bumper stickers, etc.

I realy dnt see how it’s going to prevent accident. just going to get teen in truble there is no reason for this law.

plus, its also ridiculous cuz they charge u for it and make it easy to put on and remove it so what should stop any lowlife from stealing them? which may also cause the driver to get a ticket for not abiding the law

i got an idea

lets all together put this red tape on our cars!!!!

the reason for the law…….money, $4 for the sticker $100 for not having one. it is just that simple!

#9: That predator will be in for a big surprise when a non-teen driver returns to the car. The sticker remains on the vehicle all of the time, not just when a teen is behind the wheel.

# 14 is correct.

It is all about money and another way for the tax payer to get screwed and allow it to happen. What ever happened to “We The People”. I guess when the government needs money the U.S. Constitution is rewritten to allow it to charge what ever they want under “for safety sake”. I am sorry for the child that is no longer with us due to an accident, but the sticker is not going to bring him/her back or change the driving habits of teenagers or anyone else for that matter.

The red stickers are removable and should be removed by the teen after he/she gets out of the car, so that the parents or adults aren’t hassled by the police who think they are pulling over a teen.
