The Lakewood Department of Public Works (DPW) Fall leaf collection work is about to enter its fourth week.
Every home in the DPW’s Zone 4 – whose weekly garbage pickup is on Thursday – will have its leaves collected one day this coming week, November 25th through 29th.
If you live in Zone 4, please prepare your leaves by Sunday evening, November 24th, in order to ensure that they will be collected. (The next leaf collection in Zone 4 will take place in late December.)
DPW Director Phil Roux explains that in order for leaves to be picked up, they need to be raked curbline, similar to where you would park a car. The leaves must be left in piles of leaves only (no wood, brush, dirt, etc.) and should be left in a loose pile (not in bags etc.). Additionally, the leaves must be piled a minimum of 10 feet away from storm water drains.
“We would like to thank Lakewood’s homeowners and residents in advance for preparing their leaves in a proper and timely manner, and making the collection process smooth and efficient,” says Director Roux. “The DPW looks forward to continue working together with residents to make Lakewood as clean, safe and beautiful as can be.”
Us in zone 3 didn’t get a normal cleanup. For starters they came at 11pm and were making noise till 1pm. They did a lousy job and the street cleaner never came either. You can’t even tell they picked up the leaves that’s how bad a job they did!!!
Is there anyway we can get leafs pickup more often?
It takes up 3 parking spot in front of my house.
(Every spot is precious 🫣)
Why does zone 4 always get Thanks Giving week? & then we are lucky enough to get “Erev New Years”
This doesn’t bode well for efficient leaf pickup.
Can we just get leaves added to garbage bags. It makes no sense for the leaf pickup machine. Wastes our time and money and it gets blown back on our lawn if not picked up in timely fashion.
Zone 3 did NOT get picked up. Come drive by Cedar Court, Williams Street, Elaine, and Murray – and check the side streets off Williams. We never got a leaf pickup at all
