The following was submitted by the DPW Director Patrick Donnelly:
A fast-moving, but very high impact event will occur tomorrow morning (2/9/2017), coinciding with the AM commute as we are now expecting a major storm. Initially, there will be a light rain after midnight, that may mix with snow/sleet. Note that there isn’t expected to be a lot of rain (trace – 0.10″) prior to the switch to snow. This precipitation is going to become heavy between 5 – 8 AM and that is when the switch to snow takes place. Expect a very heavy, intense snow for a period in the morning as snowfall rates will be 1-2″+ per hour. Even thunder/lightning can occur. The morning timing is obviously not good and that will make this a difficult storm to keep up with. Also watch for blowing/drifting as winds during and after are 10-25 mph.
***AT THIS TIME WE ARE CANCELING ALL TRASH AND RECYCLING ROUTES FOR TOMORROW (2/9/2017) EVERYTHING WILL BE MOVED BY ONE DAY MEANING THURSDAY’S ROUTE WILL BE PICKED UP ON FRIDAY AND FRIDAY’S ROUTE WILL BE PICKED UP ON SATURDAY***
*** PLEASE REMOVE ALL VEHICLES FROM THE ROADWAYS NO LATER THEN WEDNESDAY NIGHT SO THE DPW CAN NAVIGATE THE ROADWAYS SAFELY***
*** PLEASE REMOVE ALL TRASH AND RECYCLING CANS FROM THE ROADWAY, MOVE ALL ITEMS TO HIGHER GROUND NOT ON THE CURBLINE(CLOSER TO YOUR HOMES/BUSSINESS)***
Prior to the last snow storm, all the cars were moved from the County-owned street where I live. The snow started Shabbos morning and the plows did not come until 12 hours later! There is plenty of time to move the cars off the street after it stops snowing.
i will park on the other side of the street.
