A physician in Lakewood is donating a kidney to a nurse today, Renewal, an organization that facilitates transplants says.
Sofia, the recipient, is a mother of one and a former surgical nurse. Over a year and half ago she reached out to Renewal for help as her kidneys were failing. The donor, Tamar, is a physician in Lakewood, and mother of five children.
“She was inspired to donate a kidney when she chaperoned her daughter’s class to watch a live kidney transplant being done in St. Barnabas Medical Center,” Renewal said. A 71 year old woman sitting next to her confided in her that she had donated a kidney the previous year.
“Though Tamar has never met Sofia, she still agreed to donate one of her kidneys to her. Sofia is now B”H getting a new lease on life because of Tamar’s amazing selfless act,” Renewal says.
“B”H, kidney transplants have a great success rate. However there needs to be Siyata Dishmaya that it be successful. Please take a moment to say tehillim for the success of the transplant. Donor: Tamar Margalit bas Rivka. Recipient: Tziporah bas Sarah.”
The transplant has been graciously sponsored by Rachamim ben Leah and family. “May the family be blessed with tremendous success, good health, peace and happiness.”
