Lakewood child running to catch school bus struck by vehicle

A Lakewood child was struck by a vehicle as she ran for her school bus, police confirm to TLS.

Witnesses, and the victim, stated the seven-year-old girl “ran into the street from behind a parked car to catch her bus,” Detective Lieutenant Greg Staffordsmith tells TLS.

The incident occurred on Thursday morning just before 9 AM on East 5th Street.

“The child, along with her mother who also witnessed the event, put to the child in the car that stuck her and drove to a local hospital where she was evaluated and treated for her injuries,” Staffordsmith said.
