  1. This is why according to the commercial driver license book in NJ a driver should only pick up students ‘waiting’ at the assigned stop. They are not supposed to pick up students that are running/ walking/ waiting in the house/ waiting in the car etc. I’ve seen a number of dangerous situations due to kids chasing down a bus. We need to teach our children bus safety.

  2. To lkwd-. Did you even read the article? Or did you post your comment after only reading the headline? What does this story have to do with buses driving too fast?

  3. So glad the child wasn’t hurt. Don’t want to think what could have happened. Most bus drivers are great. It has to be hard driving in a such a congested area. I couldn’t do it. I can barley get out of my development on to County Line Rd.

  4. The bus driver should have waited for the police to arrive. I’ve seen busses going 40 mph on a residential street. they should have GPS systems & be monitored by the new bus coalition.

  5. to the person who commented that one of the reaSONS THINGS HAPPEN IS THAT KIDS ARE WAITING FOR THEIR BUS IN THE CAR { i GUESS WITH MOM OR DAD} WHATS WRONG WITH THAT/ THEYRE WAITING AT THEIR STOP AND BEING THAT THAT WE ARE ALMOST INTO WINTER THERES ALL KINDS OF WEATHER: RAINING, SLEET BELOW ZERO TEMPS ETC SO AT LEAST THEY CAN BE WARM WHILE WAITING

  6. to truth- “The bus reportedly continued driving with the child underneath, before it stopped and the child crawled out.” For sure accidents can happen at a blink of an eye, but if buses drove slower, it would prevent tragedies.

  7. It happens to be in this story the driver was not driving fast.
The child was trying to make the bus at a different stop and walked right in front of the bus without driver noticing.

  8. That’s why parents should be waiting with their children at the bus stop. Don’t let your child run to the bus. Wait for bus to come to a complete stop, then walk onto bus.

  9. also need to teach children to sit down on the bus. i was behind a bus going west on 88, turned south on new hampshire ave. the children were up and out of seats, dancing in aisle as bus was turning the corner. very unsafe behavior. bus driver should have stopped the bus. this was a private school bus. if i could have gotten the name i would have called police.
