JUST IN: A Lakewood bus driver died this afternoon after going into Cardiac Arrest just as his bus was being loaded with children, sources confirm to TLS.
The bus driver, approximately 45 years of age, parked his bus in front of a Lakewood school to pick up his afternoon route, when he went inside the school to use the restroom, sources say.
When the driver failed to return to his loaded bus, and failed to answer multiple calls to his cell phone, school officials entered the bathroom where he was found unconscious, sources told TLS.
EMS and Hatzolah Paramedics rushed to the scene and began performing CPR on the man. He was transported to Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus in critical condition, and died a short time later, sources confirm.
“He was a wonderful person and a family man,” a colleague of his told TLS. “He always cared about the children, and was a warm driver. He’ll really be missed.”

RIP. Thank you for your service to the community. May G-d bring comfort to the family.
Wow! That is very sad. My son told me that something must have happened near bais tova.. there were a lot of police, ems, and emergency vehicles that caused some traffic.. that is a small inconvenience compared to the terrible catastrophe that occurred. May his family find comfort.
Thank you sir bus driver for the service to our children! May you rest in peace! And may we all see the yad Hashem that another absolute catastrophe was avoided by this happening before the bus pulled away from the school! Nissim!

I would def like to contribute as well. Perhaps we can contact jays bus and get the contact info for his family. My children had this driver and loved riding on his bus. I would love to let his family know how much we appreciated his devotion to our children
Why is his name , employer & school a secret ? Are they still trying to notify his next of kin ? Hmmmm. RIP, Lou & thanx for ur many yrs of service to our town.
My condolences to the Family. It is tough loosing loved ones right before the holidays! Thankfully, he was not driving otherwise this tragic loss could have been more extenuating and catastrophic.
my daughter would like to write a letter to the family – is there an address available? He was very well liked and kind, will be missed. We wish his family condolences and all the best.
What a beautiful idea to write a letter to the family. giving tzeduka to the family would be a wonderful lesson to teach the children also.
What a beautiful idea to write a letter to the family. amother wonderful idea would be to give tzeducah to the family and show the children what a wonderful thing it is to give tzeducah whether Jewish or gentile.
