As reported last night on our news alerts (@LakewoodScoop), Board of Education Vice President Menachem Friedman has resigned.
Friedman, (pictured center) who was been on the Board only since January of this year, needed to resign due to his moving out of the district.
“It has been an honor to represent all of the Lakewood residents and strive for an excellent education despite the insufficient funding,” Friedman told TLS. “I pray and hope for a better tomorrow when we can look back and say that the effort we put in was all worth it.”
Several other Board members resigned within the last two years, and were replaced.
“He will be very, very much missed,” Board President Ada Gonzalez told TLS. “We worked on a lot of projects together, and I counted on him for so many things. He was a great asset and he has a good heart. Everybody loved him.”
Gonzalez says it’s a shame he needed to resign due to his moving out of district, but says “I hope I can still count on his expertise and advice when I get stuck.”
The Board will accept resumes of parties interested in filling Friedman’s seat. He has approximately two years remaining on his term.

Isn’t it time we raise local taxes in order to properly fund the schools? Enough of the busing headaches! If the state won’t give us more money, we should raise it ourselves!
