A school shooting in Maryland today left the gunman dead, thanks to an armed security guard.
Two students were shot in the incident, but the gunman was stopped before slaughtering more students.
Lakewood Board of Education member Isaac Zlatkin today commended the security guard, and says Lakewood constantly trains their armed guards for such scenarios, G-d forbid.
“The district is constantly training and preparing for active shooter scenarios, since protecting our most valuable asset is our top priority and responsibility,” Zlatkin tells TLS. “While we pray it never happens, we are proud of our security team and amazing cooperation we are getting from the LPD.”
He added, “I would like to commend Laura Winters and board Counsel Michael Inzelbuch for the work and effort that they are putting in to make sure that our students are safe.”
“We also have to mention important work Agudath Yisroel is doing on behalf of the non public schools in trying to increase security grant money that is allocated for non public schools for security purposes. We hope that the state recognizes the importance of having security in non public school and increases their per student allocations.”
