Lakewood Board of Education To Distribute Thousands of Masks

The Lakewood Board of Education says it will distribute free face masks to private schools in Lakewood Monday through Wednesday, after the expected arrival of tens of thousands of masks on Monday.

The masks were bought and are being given out by the State and County, and over 150 schools and yeshivos are expected to pick up masks for their students. The BOE says the masks will help all of Lakewood’s schools to remain open by mitigating the risk of coronavirus transmission in school settings.

The Lakewood School District received an initial batch of 20,000 masks on Friday for use in its schools. The number of masks being given to each private school was determined by the state.

School and yeshiva administrators who are not yet on the list to receive masks can contact the Director of Lakewood Schools Security, Rob DeSimone, at 732-644-9797.

When contacted by TLS, BOE president Moshe Bender said, “This is just another example public service we are privileged to do for all kids of Lakewood so as to mitigate the current situation and so schools can remain open for those who desire to attend.”

  1. Thank you for going above and beyond the extra mile and arranging this. It is difficult for young children especially primary and first graders to remember constantly to have them with them and the schools are charging a dollar each time one is needed I hope they don’t charge for these!!
