The Lakewood Township Committee has adopted a new ordinance prohibiting the parking of trucks and other heavy vehicles weighing more than four tons along Kennedy Boulevard.
The restriction applies to both sides of the roadway between Monmouth Avenue and Squankum Road, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., seven days a week.
The move came in response to concerns submitted through the Ask the Mayor column on TLS. Following that request, the Township’s Traffic Safety Unit conducted a review and recommended the change, noting that eliminating commercial vehicle parking would improve conditions for both pedestrians and motorists.
The ordinance, introduced on August 7 and formally adopted on September 11, 2025, takes effect immediately.
Lakewood Police Chief Gregory H. Meyer backed the measure, citing the need to reduce hazards caused by large parked vehicles along the busy corridor.

Why not night as well?
Enforcement and signage is key otherwise this ordinance is useless
Does that mean the bus to/from Brooklyn can’t stop there?
no it means the 18 wheelers cant park there
Amazing. This will take care of the traffic problems in Lakewood.
Now let’s ban parking of all types on Oak Street..
