Lakewood Bank Robber Admits Multiple Robberies In Court

A Brick man admitted yesterday to committing a string of weekly bank robberies in Ocean, Monmouth and Middlesex counties that netted thousands of dollars earlier this year. Peter A. Bielecke, 41, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Joel A. Pisano. One of the banks targeted, was the Investors Savings Bank in Lakewood, which was reported here on The Lakewood Scoop, which netted him $1,323, on 19th of Feb. Bielecke admitted using force and intimidation in each of the robberies. The crime spree began less than six months after Bielecke was released from state prison where he was sent to serve a seven-year term for attempted kidnapping and stalking. Although he pleaded guilty to only one count of bank robbery, all of the robberies will be taken into consideration when Bielecke is sentenced by Pisano, which is scheduled for Aug. 25, said Acting U.S. Attorney Ralph J. Marra Jr. Bielecke faces a maximum of 20 years in prison and a potential fine of up to $250,000, Marra said. Bielecke was arrested March 5 near the ShopRite supermarket at Route 70 and Chambers Bridge Road in Brick when he got out of a car that matched the description of the getaway vehicle used in the bank robbery in Old Bridge earlier that day. An investigation by a multi-jurisdictional task force linked Bielecke to all of the robberies, Marra said. The task force was comprised of members of the FBI’s Red Bank office, the prosecutor’s offices in Ocean and Monmouth counties, Ocean County Sheriff’s Department and the police departments in Brick, Toms River, Lakewood, Howell, Old Bridge, Wall, Berkeley, Manchester and Point Pleasant.
