(Photos of recent events) Kol Aryeh, located at 521 Hope Chapel Road, will be hosting L’toles Harabbim, the Tefillin Awareness Project this coming Sunday, April 18th. Sofrim will be available from 7:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. to check and correct Tefillin placement, blacken and inspect retzuos, and advise on other issues relating to Tefillin, all free of charge. Thousands have taken advantage of this opportunity as part of the program. This is the third time the program has come to Lakewood following events hosted at Khal Ateres Yeshaya and at Khal Zichron Yaakov. The Rabbanim of these shuls, Rav Simcha Bunim Cohen Shlita and Rav Shlomo Gissinger Shlita, showed much appreciation and have personally benefited from this unique service.

If tefilin have a chezkas kashrus checking might be unneccesary.. Maybe even detrimental.. Consult a certified rabbi for more info.
Gevaldig! (can you post this?)
Oh this is so good I daven there every day I will be able to have my teffilin checked who do we have to thank for this? Maybe r’ moshe peretz or who??
if you read the article, they are NOT opening up & “checking” the parshyos, it seems they are just making sure its worn correctly, and that none of the external items (retzuos, battim) etc have any issues.
from one of the pictures, it seem that the sofer is even checking the rebuah (squareness) with some kind of tool.
in one picture it looks like rabbi leff (i think orig Minnesota) from agudah in flatbush getting his tifilin inspected.
kudos to the askanim involved, this is a REAL kiddush Hashem, and they are being mezaka the rabbim!!
Mamesh gevaldig!
Wow! Mi k’amch Yisroel! What an amazing zach!
Skoyach reb moshe peretz for keep on being mizaka the rabbim!
This isn’t about checking the parshios, this is about the retzuous being properly painted and the fit on the hand and head. Many people go around with rubbed out retzuous.
