PHOTOS: About fifty family members and friends of Kevin Kielt filled the Municipal Auditorium yesterday evening as the Township payed tribute to the Planning and Engineering Department head who passed away earlier this year.
“Kevin was the happiest and smiliest person we’ve all met”, Mayor Menashe Miller said before unveiling a new street sign which will serve as an everlasting memory for him.
The Mayor said the new Street name – Kielt Way – was chosen in a new development yet to be built, so as not to inconvenience the homeowners by requiring them to switch over all their documents containing their street address and other information.
“It’s the way Kevin would have wanted it”, the Mayor said.
The family of Kevin then joined the Mayor at the podiom where he handed them a replica of the street sign, along with the map of new street where the sign will be placed in the coming months.
Think it is nice to name a street after Planning and Engineering head, but here we go again another new development, just what Lakewood needs.
What a nice guy Kevin was. He was such a special person that always had a bright outlook despite his illness.
This was my first time in Lakewood for a Town Council meeting. I must say, I was very impressed with the Mayor. What a genuine guy. He was very compassionate to the family and was very eloquent with his words used.
What a blessing it is to have a town run by a Mayor who doesn’t just view town workers as employees but rather as personal friends and close coleagues.
