Mispallelim coming to Daven at K’hal Ateres Yeshaya this morning, were once again greeted with the beautiful display of an American Flag proudly hung above the main entrance to the the Shul in honor of Independence Day.
The Shul, under the leadership of Rav Simcha Bunim Cohen Shlita, follows in the footsteps of Rav Cohen’s grandfather, Rav Avigdor Miller Zatzal, who also displayed a flag at his Shul on July 4th.

Well you live in America, so you should adopt to some of the traditions. After all it was this country that liberated most of the free world.

And particularly is our flag appreciated, and commented on by mailman and sanitation workers etc., on Memorial Day and Veteran’s Day.
We celebrate living in the USA everyday (we should not take it for granted) and we all commemorate the date of July 4 each in our own way. Some people make a BBQ, Some just stay home and relax. Some even join their congregation for studies of their religion today as they have a day off of work to commemorate Independence Day. This is because in the USA we are allowed to practice openly our religion we therefore celebrate by doing so – by preserving our traditions.
It’s nice to show patriotism to your host country. The Ponevez Yeshiva also displays the flag of it’s host country.

The fact that there is even a discussion about this is embarresing. Just like you don’t forget to put your pants on in the morning is the same that you don’t forget to show hakaras hatov by flying a flag on july 4th

#5 it is disrespectful to compare America to that state. America is a country that gives equal rights to everyone and has freedom of religion. That state has open, state sponsored discrimination against Orthodox Jews and has state regulated religion.
“That state” supports more Torah in the world than any other institution on planet earth , the only discrimination is that the orthodox dont need to defend the country with guns and tanks and “that state “currently lets many thousands of Benay Torah learn torah , and pays them for it .

As long as the US and the state of NJ have [minimum] morality,it is proper to put up a flag.
