Today will mark the first of a series of Kesivos Osiyos in the “Zichron Shlome” Sefer Torah that is being written as a Zechus Refuah Sheleima for the Lakewood Cholim. The first few letters have been written by the Roshei Yeshiva and Mashgiach who are actively involved in the campaign and in assisting the cancer patients that turn to ZSRF for assistance.
At the end of the campaign, the Sefer Tora will be raffled off to one lucky winner. This campaign has been endorsed by R Elyashiv, R Chaim Kanievsky, R Shmiel Halevi Wosner, R Michel Yehuda Lefkowitz and R’ Aryeh Leib Shteinman.
The events will be held at the homes of R Heshy Tomor (1:30 PM-3:30 PM), R’ Michoel Rottenberg 5:00 PM-7:00 PM) and R’ Shalom Abramczyk (8 PM-10 PM)
Zichron Shlome has been actively involved in discreetly dispensing financial assistance to the patients and families engulfed in the maelstrom of cancer. It was founded by Rabbi and Mrs Raizy Ziegler over 20 years ago when their 16 year old son, Shloimie proclaimed his dying wish, “Tati , Mommy, do something in my name. Do something that will alleviate the suffering of those enduring what we did”. Today Zichron Shlome gives money for experimental treatment, airfare, housekeepers, wigs and toupees, mortgage payments, insurance deductibles and more. They often cover the bill for very expensive medications that run into the tens of thousands of dollars. not covered by insurance; often the family is unaware that it is Zichron Shlome that is paying for it.
Zichron Shlome also becomes the emotional support for many families. Their newest program “fulfill a dream” sends couples on much needed retreats, pays for siblings of patients to go to summer camp and provides whatever a patient wishes to help alleviate some of the pain and suffering . This, of course, is besides for providing the basic needs of the patient. One example would be when a Lakewood yungerman was receiving chemo at memorial, Zichron Shlome paid for his wife’s transportation to and from the hospital for many months . This woman was expecting their third child and was embarrassed at throwing up in the back of a volunteer’s car. Another 9 year old boy was provided with a hookup to his classroom from his hospital bed so that he wouldn’t miss all the classes that he loved so much.
Zichron Shlome’s mission is to provide financial and emotional support while preserving the dignity of the patient. That’s why there are no long waits or forms to fill out. The Zieglers consult with rabbanim and the dispense aid with tzniyus, generosity and a caring heart.

My neighbor’s son was diagnosed a few months ago. She told me that ZS pays for her to have more help so she could stay with her son in the hospital. When she comes home there is a warm meal waiting, she says it gives her dignity not to have to be the nebach and take everyone’s suppers. These people are amazing, I hope everyone contributes generously

I was at the kesivas osiyos in Whispering Pines. What a zechus to have the sefer tora in the house. It was gorgeous! I saw how excited the children were. I offered to host it in my house… I hope it works out!
