Keren Hamasros reports to TLS that peppers with stickers “Produce of Israel” are being sold in the local Shoprite.
“These peppers are Shemittah produce and may not be purchased,” says Keren Hamasros. “If one has already purchased them, one should consult a Rav.”
“It is imperative, especially during this Shemittah year (and next year), to be vigilant about reading labels to ascertain that one’s produce is not from Eretz Yisroel.”

maybe its from fields that werent worked on ?
…and MAYBE not. aside for the issur sfichim which kicks in soon.
These peppers are also sold in Costco!!!
Pay close attention to the LABEL ON THE PEPPER. The sign above it might say “product of Mexico” (or something similar) BUT on the pepper itself it will state the actual country of origin.
Last week I saw that the sign said Product of Ecuador but the sticker on the pepper said PRODUCT OF ISRAEL…
@justasking Even in the highly unlikely event that youre right, there is still the potential issue of sefichin which is assur ba’achila. Additionally there can be issues of issur sechorah, giving dmei shvi’is to an am haaretz (nochri), and eating it b’kedushas shvi’is.
Which Shoprite(s)?
I would check into it before I asser these peppers. I dont think the peppers in Stores now had their hachnatah (beginning of growth) after Rosh Hashanna. Next yr is the bigger problem, or end of this yr. not now. Mostly.
peppers are not fruit, and are shviis by picking the ‘problem’ is NOW
