Some lots of B&G Gherkins have been found to contain insect infestation.
The lot codes are printed on the side of the lid.
The affected lots identified so far are:
#25021 – Best By Feb 25 2023
#09031 – Best By Mar 09 2023
#24861 – Best By Jun 24 2023
These lots should not be used.
It is unclear at this time how many other lots may be affected. We will be sure to issue updated alerts as warranted.
In the meanwhile, consumers of other lots are advised to slice open each gherkin to check for possible infestation. Refer to the photo below to see what you should be checking for.
Anyone discovering infestation in a lot not referenced above is requested to immediately contact [email protected] and share the lot number and Best By information noted on the lid. Attaching a photograph would also be very helpful.
Corrective measures are being implemented to avoid this problem in the future.
Yankel came home from the grocery store one day and realized one of the items he had purchased was from a lot that had been identified as one of the lots that contained insect infestation. He engaged in some introspection to figure out why this misfortune had happened to him, and why this food item from this particular lot had fallen into his hands. But all he could come up with was: “I guess this is my LOT in life.”
What about the Gherkins of other companies? Or do insects also prefer B & G Gherkins only?
Is this a problem for other pickle products from B&G or only gherkins?
Thanks
