Kashrus Alert: Candy Bag Labeled With OU Contains Non-Kosher Items

PHOTO: A concerned reader has brought to our attention the fact that Costco is selling a candy bag labeled with an OU containing non-Kosher items. The bag, ‘Funhouse Treats’, contains a variety of candies – with only some of them actually under the OU’s supervision. The others in the bag are Non-Kosher.

Costco has since placed a sign near the candies notifying customers about the obvious mistake, which reads as follows: Sour Punch Straws, Lemon Heads, Laffy Taffy, Jolly Rancher and Twizzlers are certified Kosher products. All other items in Funhouse Treats are NOT certified Kosher products.

The bag was appraently created for the Trick-or-Treat season, but shoppers are nevertheless urged to check the products for proper certification year-round. TLS-BA.
