K-9 Units Being Called In For Unattended Suitcase

K-9 units are being called in to Lakewood this evening after an unattended suitcase was found lying in the road. LCSW received a call from a resident at about 11:00 PM stating he came across an unattended suitcase on North Lake Drive.

LCSW advised the called to phone police, and also sent several units to canvass the area.

North Lake Drive is currently closed off between Madison Avenue and Forest Avenue. TLS-62/TLS-CCP.

They gotta learn from the police in Israel. It takes them 15 min to clear a chaifetz chashuv.

“Chashud” not chashuv

Dave, maybe it takes even faster to clear a “chefetz chashud”, the correct term, which means a suspicious object as opposed to a “chefetz chashuv”, which means an important object.

LCSW advised the called to phone police. huh? what does this mean?
Police should be called first. what is this nonsense? There was no need to call LCSW first. You could have endangered everyone nearby by waiting to have the police called. ask your Rav if you acted properly.

It’s not chosuv, it is choshud; it means suspicious as in suspicious object.

seriously, whats suspicios about a suitcase that fell out of a car on north lake drive. No one thinks someone planned to blow up the lake. Its just the LPD earning overtime.

Hey tax cow…there is protocol to be followed. First off, me nor any other law enforcement officer is not going to go poking and prodding around an unattended package and go get ourselves blown up. Secondly, maybe if we had a K-9 in our department and did have to call other agencies from around the county, these things wouldn’t be such a spectacle. It is beyond me how a city that has many potential terrorist targets ( and no, I will not name them for you) has no K-9s to aid us in preventing a possible tragedy. And FYI, when this call came in, there was a shift overlap going on. What that means is that there was double the man power working, hence no need for overtime. Some people are just not happy unless they are complaining

The LPD did not earn OT on that call..every time someone calls in a suspicious package or bag it must be investigated. Those officers were on Patrol and were assigned to the call..get your facts straight before speaking smack like that- taxcow

To huh?:

Couldn’t have said it better. Though I am surprised the caller didn’t initially call his rav and ask whether to call LCSW or the police. Come to think of it, I am surprised he didn’t ask a rav whether he had to call another rav to ask whom to call. Suspicious package? Call LPD.
Oh yeah, and to ‘taxcow’ – cow will do. Enough with the disparaging remarks of the LPD; they keep the streets safe, they put their lives on the line and they would risk it all even for a clown like you.

Number 3-0 good point! But in all seriousness it does take them about 15-20 minutes to clear a bomb scare. So, maybe we can have a team go to israel and get some training!

WHY WOULD YOU CALL A NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH, ON AN ISSUE THE POLICE BOMB SQUAD NEEDS TO HANDLE?

THE CHIEF OF POLICE NEEDS TO ADDRESS THE FRUM COMMUNITY ON THE PROPER PROTOCOL. THE MORE TIME THAT IS SPENT WASTED ON PHONE-CALLS TO NEIGHBORHOOD WATCHES, AND NOT THE POLICE, THE MORE PEOPLES LIVES ARE AT RISK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this is getting really out of hand!

If LPD had a bomb squad on call 24-7 like I’m sure they have everywhere in Israel then they would not have to wait for the county or state to come out. But no one even wants to pay the officers they already have so any extra funding will never happen.

Officer, you should stop reading these comments, they will only aggravate you. You do not owe an explanation to anyone for how you or the rest of the dept function. Keep doing your job, you are appreciated.
