PHOTOS: Two area K-9 dogs graduated yesterday joining the Police force in Brick Township and in Tinton Falls. At the graduation, the Tinton Falls dog was named the ‘Matlosz K-9’ by Tinton Falls K-9 Officer Chris Whalen, a close friend of fallen Lakewood Police Officer Chris Matlosz.
In addition, the other K-9 dogs also got new sponsored vests, which will serve as an everlasting memorial for Matlosz, who gave his life while serving and protecting the citizens of Lakewood.
“Let this K-9 officer carry on the spirit of strength and courage”, the new vests read.
In attendance at the event, were several LPD officers as well as Matlosz’s Fiancee and family.
Matlosz’s Fiancee, Ms. Kelly Walsifier, also contributed $2,000 to a local Animal Shelter, in memory of Chris.

I’m glad Chris is being honored in a manner that helps public safety. The most meaningful tribute to a fallen officer is to perpetuate what he did in life.
Very nice!
THOSE PROUD K-9 OFFICERS AND THEIR FURY PARTNERS WILL CARRY ON THE NAME OF PTL.CHRIS MATLOSZ ,GOD BLESS THEM,THIS IS A GREAT THING .
