K-9 Called In To Search For Hit-And-Run Driver Who Struck Tent City Resident

Police have called out for a K9 Units after a driver allegedly fled after striking a Tent City resident with his vehicle this evening, police say. The incident reportedly occurred near the entrance to the Cedarbridge camp.

After striking the man, the driver allegedly fled on foot, possibly running into the wooded area off of Cedarbridge Avenue.

Another man, who says he was a passenger in the vehicle which struck the pedestrian, was also injured.

Both men are being transported to Kimball Medical Center in unknown conditions. TLS.

If they weren’t living in the woods they would not have been hit.

Can you be more realistic? Just because they live in the woods does not mean they all will get hit by a motor vegicle. The young boy who was struck down on Clover while walking with his family, or those crossing Rt 88 or anyone being anywhere getting hit by a vehicle……where they all living in the woods? No. The only thing in common is they live in Lakewood with all the speed demon drivers who have to get somwhere fast but for no apparant reason.

Living in the woods is not a reason to be hit by a car… however crossing the road over there where there is almost no lighting at all certainly increases the chances. When a driver sees someone/something at the last second it can be almost impossible to avoid when the speed limit is 40+ MPH.

The lighting on RT 88 is also horrible and it doesn’t help when 90% of the “victims” (I would argue that the drivers are actually the victims) are drunk who tend to jump in front of cars on the street.

the driving issue in lakewood is out of control
but i see for myself that people crossing the streets think that they can cross no matter what. sometimes they don’t even look and cross just because the law is you have to stop for pedestrian not everyone listens. i once was trying to cross by the cross walk on 1st and clifton i was waiting until it was clear finally it cleared and i was about to cross and a car came by,then a white suv came and pulled out enough so that i could cross over safetly in the end it was a police officer that was the only way that i was finally able to cross over. no body cares about other its all about me and thats another problem with drivers in this town. if everyone would put themselves into others shoes especailly people not from our town then maybe people would drive a little safer. once on a radio talk show they were talking all about bad driving and guess what they kept getting calls all about lakewood and the crazy drivers who don’t know how to follow the driving laws. they don’t know what a stop sign is and many other things. if they are talking about us on the radio then this really is sad.

The Facts

This had nothing to do with anyone crossing the road. The homeless person was chased and run downed by the person driving the motor vehicle. The homeless man was released from the hospital with minor injuries and is now back in Tent City.

Number one is kind of right if the person wasn’t homeless and living in tent city they would not have been there to be hit. I hope he or she doesn’t think they deserve to be hit.

the man was not hit crossing the road- a drunk driver actually drove into the trails and hit the man as he was walking. it could have happened to anyone who was walking the trails, not just the residents of Tent City.
