  1. whats the diff whom they listen to? You think people who listen to talkradio are “told” what to think? Punkt Farkert! We are taught HOW to think things thru logically!

  2. Hey Y4 the other C! If your IP is Brooklyn, then why bother getting involved in NJ? Something or someone is not coming clean. Maybe it is you?!

  3. That’s the point I don’t know politics but I know rubber stamping, now I’m unable to rubber stamp anymore people are questioning all the Vaad’s decisions and I don’t know exactly what I’m suppose to say, I was recruited because I have a good name in LKWD. And I bring creditably and I’m a good board member, I know how to follow the leader. Now its to difficult to continue people are asking me why I came to certain conclusions and I don’t know what to say.

  4. Mr velt chochom
FYI Christi did come to lakewood and met with the igud hamosdos
Don’t take my word for it call sk or the other members of the igud and ask them if its true

  5. My wife is very happy about all these politics the Vaad, R’ Malkiel , R’ A’L etc. I’m preoccupied with all the hock, so I’m not fighting with her.

  6. thinking that radio shows teach you haw to think straight is very naive. I too detest liberalism, but I keep my eyes open as to the realities of the needs of the tzibbur in Lakewood. By the way, I am not personally on any programs.

  7. My dear Radio,
Regardless of which radio show I listen to, I am a hard working man, fighting to pay my bills each and every month. On any given month I am faced with shut off notices from most of my utility companies and I pay my mortgage on the 30th since I don’t have the funds earlier……
To make it short- I rather save $2000 on my taxes! If the kolel world will lose funding…..that’s when we will see who the true kolel families are.. The ones that are moiser nefesh to live the kolel lifestyle! I shouldn’t be the one suffering so that every other family should be on programs! What happened prior to programs? There were kolel families then too! If I had the funds I would support a kolel but that would be a choice I would make- you can’t force me to support programs and pay the higher taxes to cover.

  8. Liberalism is a Disease: I enjoyed your comment about talk radio teaching people how to think….I don’t know if I should laugh or cry…I really hope you were joking….

  9. According to sources ,R” AL Steinman told people that his intention to the shoel from Lakewood was ,that bedieved ,now that the Vaad has endorsed somebody ,they do not need to antagonize him by rescinding their endorsement over the toiveh issue . It is very not clear if he would have said the same thing if both sides had come to him deveral weeks ago and given him the time to be shoikel the inyan on a lechatchilah basis .
I happen to agree that at this point ,the VAAD can not rescind their endorsement .

  10. Christie did not come to meet with the Igud because he was not invited . A very powerful figure made sure that Corzine invited himself to meet the Igus ,where he basically spit on the Mosdos requests .

  11. What’s that Rabbi in Israel’s phone number, I’d like to send a fruit basket for the weekend. Regardless of the outcome of the election. Thank You

  12. I am in total agreement with radio’s last comment that our kehila relies heavily on these programs in order to continue learning and would like to add that if Christie gets elected WILL YOU GIVE ANY EXTRA MONEY TO A LOCAL MOSSAD ?!? I think that pretty much resolves the issue the amount of funding our local mossdos will loose will not be made up by donation from the klal even after all the tax refunds.

  13. key hashochad yeaver einei chachamim veesalef divrei tzadikim.
rosh yeshivos and askanim and tzadikim also have a yetzer hora! we all know that shochad is rampant in politics so why is it unheard of to misquote someone so that the elections are slanted toward your direction

  14. Do you realize that there is in excess of $100 million dollars annualy flowing into our kehilla in the form of HUD financial aid, Earned income credit, etc. This money flows to the stores and businesses in our kehilla and supports many baalei battim in Lakewood.. That means that if the yungerman stops receiving his kollel check, or if a family loses HUD or health insurance, Those dollars will no longer be spent within our kehilla. Even a small amount of aid being cut, say, 5 million dollars less circulating within our kehillah will affect the store owners, business owners, and those they employ quite severely. So to those who feel that they have nothing to lose since they are not on programs, take a look at the bigger picture and realize that every person in town would be affected in one way or another. Do we dare take that risk?

  15. Malchus according to the Torah is earned by willing to admit a mistake, as in Yehuda and Tamar, “tzodka Mimeni”.

Too bad in Lakewood theis commodity does not exist, even when it is so p a i n f u l l y clear that a bad mistake was made.

Pull back the endorsement. Show some humility. . . . and Gadlus!

  16. chilul hashem i cant believe what i see here on tls rav shteinman said to vote for whom the vaad endorsed then whats the hava amina to vote christie i cant believe that bnei torah have a sofek bichlal daas torah does daas torah end when i dont like it SHAME ON YOU

  17. To NJ gov elect Christie- I’m proud to inform you that the first ballot cast in Lakewood was for you! What a great start! VOTE CHRISTIE!

  18. to yungerman for corzine even if your address is from broklyn that doesn’t mean you not related to the vaad STOP SCARING PEOPLE WITH THE PROGRAMS THEY ARE FEDERAL MANDATED AND FUNDED TO MR HARD WORKING PERSON WHO CAN’T PAY YOUR BILL HUD, FOODSTAMPS,WIC.ANDJERSEY CARE ARE FEDERAL NOT STATE SO THATS WHY ALL THE YUNGERLIGHT SIGHNED THE PETETION TO VOTE FOR CHRISTIE SINCE HE CAN’T CUT THESE PROGRAMS THA YUNGERLIGHT TAKE REMEMBER R SHNUER USEDTO QUOTE THE GOAN THAT DAAS TORAH WILL BE A BAIS MEDRASH NOT ONE PERSON SO WHEN YOU HAVE THAUSANDS OF INFORMED YUNGERLIGHT SAYING TO VOTE FOR CHRISTIE THATS DAAS TORAH NOT WHAT THE VAAD SPECIAL INTERESTS DECIDED WEDON’T KNOW HOW R A”L WAS TOLD THAT CHORZINE STOLE THE POOR TENENTS REBATE AND WHATS TO RAISE TOLLS AND SAID HE WANTS TO ELECTRIC RAISE RATES OVER 20% SO ALL THE POOR PEOPLE ARE VOTING FOR CHRISTIE YUNGERLIGHT AND WORKING REMEMBER THE PROGRAMS THAT THE FRUM GET ARE FEDERAL THE STATE GIVES 0 MONEY TO YUNGERLIGHT ITS JUST SCARE TACTICTS THAT SOME PEOPLE ARE GIVING

  19. just voted for christie…felt good …vote out all taxhikers.regardless of who endorses who.use your own common sense don’t be led like sheep

  20. The vaad acted irresponsibaly by endorsing corzine prior to asking the sheilah to R’ A L they endangered the tzibbur by creating a situation were they can’t publicly change the endorsment once they went public to support corzine I have no choice but to stay home and not vote since I do ot want to go directly against the roshei yeshiva.

  21. did anyone notice how Christie made a big deal about corruption on the video that TLS took of him. He was stressing it a lot and I wonder what he was trying to say. It seems like he won’t do good either for Lakewood. He also, as someone else mentioned did’nt come himself to campaign here.

  22. I can’t believe there are ppl out there questioning the Rosh Hayeshiva shlit”a. What type of chinuch is this for our kids? Do we only listen to daas torah when we farshtei it. ich ken nist, es iz tzu fil tatteh in himmel helf unz…

  23. Genug shoin-
Daas toirah is never supposed to be questioned! Unfortunately the vaad has lost our trust and unfortunately the vaad is influencing the daas torah to further their agenda! Unbiased daas toirah is what we need!!

  24. To say that all the money coming into Lakewood is Federally funded is completely sheker. TAG money which hps fund the Kollel checks is from the state. Aid to municipalities is from the state. Large parts of Family Care are at the states discretion. The UEZ which cuts our sales taxes and sends huge amounts of revenue to lakewood is from the state. The affordable housing is from the state. Numerous other federal programs have guidelines that are determined by and at the discretion of the state. If you think Christie can cut taxes without slashing these programs you are naive. In fact christie comes right out and says he will cut social programs. It’s strange how some people would vote to hurt themselves.

  25. I am voting for corzine ,because I don’t want to go against rav shteinman, however deep in my heart I’m hoping that christie wins. highest taxes in nation, most hostile to small buisness, trillions in deficit, the state is billions in debt, highest unemployment. pervasive corruption throughout nj,gay marriage and of course a dear friend of obama. let th corruption continue, thank you for making us an important part of it . message to vaad, there is a tremendous distrust and ill feeling going around. no matter who wins and do what the people want, listen to the average joe, not just the big whigs with special interest.

  26. Christie wanted to campaighn in lkwd , in fact it was on his website agenda!CERTAIN MEMBERS OF OUR HEILIGE KEHILLA MADE SURE HE WASNT INVITED

  27. I am very happy he stressed corruption. Let him weed out all the corruption here Title 1 – Tax free houses etc….. Those who live BeYosher have nothing to be wooried about.

  28. I just had a very disturbing conversation, with a very active member of the state and national Republican party who lives in Lakewood. Mr. #, as we shall call him, told me that he will be holding his nose this election day and voting Democratic for the first time in his life. The reasons he elucidated jolted me as well.

Mr. # told me he had a two hour face to face meeting with Chris Christie and asked him to come campaign in Lakewood. Christie refused. Christie insinuated that he is totally turned off from the Jewish community of Lakewood.

Mr. #. met with some of Christie’s biggest contributors to enlist them in getting Christie to come to Lakewood and meet with the Jewish leadership and he refused them as well.

Based on that rather blunt and brusque meeting, Mr. # was extremely repulsed and disenchanted with Mr. Christie.

Mr. # believes very strongly that Mr. Christie is NO friend of the Lakewood Orthodox Jewish community.

You would think that Christie would naturally be inclined to reach out to our community which is fair-minded in moral values and fiscal conservatisms. Opting not to come to the largest town in Ocean County and the fastest growing town in New Jersey has to raise many red flags.

    Actions speak louder than words.

Mr. # also believes that social services will be reduced as well as social service monies currently available to our kehilla in an effort to “trim” the budget.

Mr. # believes that, given the opportunity, a “Governor” Christie would initiate tax and oversight investigations that would harm many of the mosdos, shuls and even simple gemachs in our town.

Mr. # is not a part of the VAAD and never was. Mr. #’s only purpose in reaching out to the public was to convey his feelings and sentiments which he strongly believes are accurate and true.

Mr. #, like I mentioned earlier, is very involved in state and national politics and is understandably choosing to remain anonymous.

  29. churban zkeinim binyan
    binyan naarim churban

so proclaim Chazal. IF you are a ben torah, you must with your head held high obey the rosh yeshiva.

  30. Dear Taxpayer:

I am glad to hear you voted for Christie….In my humble opinion, I don’t think that your vote was halachickly or otherwise wrong…But, if Christie gets elected, and G-d forbid the programs are cut and other untoward stuff happens (…), will you still say that you saving a few hundred bucks was worth it?

  31. to youngerman4cozine weather ur yitzchok halberstam or glieberman I hope ak and the vaad give you a nice bonus for you being on TLS 24 hours a day.

  32. Hey vaad members-
Stop posting your Mr. K and Mr. # diatribe!!! Its over and some anonymous report will do nothing to help ur cause!
Its sad how you have stooped to such an immature tactic.

  33. Y against corruption:

In theory you are right that corruption is wrong and must be punished, in practice it’s a bit more complicated. Our criminal system is far from perfect….

  34. Not so emesdik. I don’t believe your story for a second. u can say anything anonymously here. he came to passaic and teaneck and met with frum leaders there, he met with a bunch of rabbanim in aug . there are those out there that want the corruption/ flow of money to continue and that’s exactly corzine.

  35. mr. wake up!!!, you write “daas toirah is never supposed to be questioned” how right you are but at the end of your contradictory anti daas torah post you write “Unbiased daas toirah is what we need”. Let me get this straight, you have the nerve to suspect this as being “biased daas torah”. Is that how you work? Everytime you hear daas torah you sit on your high horse deciding if what you heard is biased daas torah or not?? Unbelievable unbelievable. I will definately have you in mind when I daven.

  36. The reality is that most people simply feel that the question was worded in a way that only one logical answer was forthcoming.
What would have possibly settled the issue, would have been if Rav Malkeiel would have been on conference with another respected talmud chacham, who’s position was also pre-determined in the opposite direction. Then, Rav Shteinman would of had all positions to the sheila in front of him.

  37. I am being chozer from my earlier stated position. I submit my daas to my rav who said there is no hava amina to vote for corzine no matter what.
    christie must win

  38. Although I am very wary of Christie, and definitly see more short time benefits in voting for Corzine, I voted for Christie anyhow, because I’m tired of living in a society that makes it harder & harder to make a Erlicher Parnosah and converslt makes the Nisoyin of living through Gezalah bigger & bigger.I don’t want my children to waste their lives doing nothing because ‘they can’t afford to work’ as friends of mine tell me.I don’t want the cost of Insurance and rent being inflated by the government , making it so difficult to be erlich and obtain them. Therefore I voted Christie.(Everyone else was with the Vaad)

  39. Mr. Genuig shoin,
I appreciate you davening for me!
I never question daas toirah- PERIOD!
HOWEVER in this situation where it is clear for all to see, the vaad painted a very gloomy picture to R’ Malkiel and led him to believe the yeshiva has a lot to lose if corzine isn’t elected. R’ Malkiel gave over that message to R’ AL who of course sided with “the yeshivas interest” and more importantly “the vaads interest”!!!
Let an outsider without negius ask an honest unbiased question of a gadol and the obvious answer will be different.

The Rosh Yeshiva doesn’t know about politics, other than what the vaad feeds him!

  40. FYI: don’t be so naive. Mr. K does NOT exist! He’s a made up story to scare you to vote for the VAADs corzine. Use your seichel Hashem has given you (hanosen lasecvi vina lehavchin…) and don’t be gullible to all these last ditch effort scare tactics.

  41. Stop with the “I just spoke to Mr. K” that whole story is nonsense no one exists liek that in Lakewood and he def. would not be voting for Corzine.

  42. today I’m am literally torn . On the one hand , on Nov 11 if Corzine is elected, the voting comes up to make toivah marriage legal, if corzine wins and the election is very close ITMEANS That LAKEWOOD HaD a hand in bringing down the level of morality, I can’t get myself to do that. in addition he PROMISED that he will pass legislation to allow partial birth abbortion even a minute before birth a baby can be killed. .HOW CAN We SUPPORT This GUy? GEVALT I AM TORN !!!!!!!!!!!

  43. Gevalt dear, don’t wrestle with yourself so much…It will be OK…Btw, Trenton laws don’t ‘bring down’ morality, they merely reflect it…If you care about morality, it’s a bit too late…

  44. wake up!!!!! ,ahhhha, so the vaad fooled R’ Malkeil. He didn’t really have a handel on what’s going on before calling Rav Shteinman. Even if the vaad would try to fool him, they couldn’t. Perhaps do yourself a favor don’t tell ppl what you hold till after all your kids are married off. Your hashkofos are in poor shape.

  45. to yungerman 4 corzine : its not too late we can do something about it today, that’s why I’m torn. I’m told the chasidim are not voting corzine, I think ill turn chasidishe today .

  46. I just got a forwarded message from a concerned yochid who made some very compelling arguments to vote for corzine. I think Yungerman4christie should rethink his philosophy

  47. Gevalt: Don’t turn chassidish…Just seek some serious help….I considered suggesting you to join a certain religious group – run by Rome poskim – and then you will never have to worry about voting the ‘wrong’ way, but I think it’s too much…Just seek professional help…

  48. I am an honest taxpaying citizen, who wuld love to stop paying so much in taxes for every guy getting married and going to kollel. Kollel is for the elite learning not every shmo. If they cut down on the programs maybe they will not have the newest cars, which i cannot afford because my money goes to them. Vote Christie!!

  49. wake up, I don’t know you or genug shoin, but you make no sence. The fact that there are 150 posts doesn’t make you write & your true colors shine through when you bring up the topic of heter meah & Reb A. Malkiel. if you had any chashivus to reb Malkiel you wouldn’t bring up heter meah.

  50. Outside my voting location I met a chashuvah posek and roish mosad. He said he voted Christie. He was by the meeting last week and it was just ofeneh chanifah by Corzine. Said If voted back in he will restore the money that was ‘mistakenly’ slashed from the mosdoses in town. He defiantly made it easier for me to vote for christie.
He also said its more important to get out for Menashe and Meir. If not for them all the mosodsim in town would be in gehackta tzoros.

  51. O f coursr the chassidim are voting christie , they care about their own wallets not the vaads!! BY THE WAY R’MALKIEL AND THE VAAD IS HAINU HACH !!I f you think there is any convincing here you should know what you are talking about before you post comments

  52. TO MR. SEICHEL…
DONT BE TORN VOTE YOUR SEICHEL…..NOT HOW OTHER PEOPLE WANT YOU TO VOTE
I voted already and it felt good voting against ss marriage b’h

  53. Rabbosai,
look at the TLS poll….doesnt that say something about who most people believe is best for the tzibbur….
RALS said vote best for tzibbur… I am going right now to vote for Christie

  54. The Vaad has once again proven how out of step they are with the Tzibbur. Anyone out there still thinks they have our interest at heart?

Vote YOUR principles, not THEIR interests!!!!!!!!!!!

  55. If The issue is Money What happened to ” Tomim Tihiyei” and “ki im liyadcha” its not the government that puts bread on our table. we are talking poshute emunah. I think it’s a chillul hashem for people like yungerman4corzine to put all their trust in food stamps. Do you think that the Abishter has a shortage of way to provide his kinder? How can we vote for s/o who openly supports what our torah calls a toeiva?
This philosophy is a chillul hashem!

Throw your trust in the abishter! He will provide you NOT this mushchis!

  56. Until someone puts a real name to the Mr. K story. I will suspect the story as bubeh maysois. Sorry nice try.
There is enough facts on both side of the frum divide, we do not need fiction dividing us.

  57. I would like to preface my comment by saying that I am not taKING A POSITION IN FAVOR OF EITHER CANDIDATE . jUST SOME FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Hypothetical : Lets say tha there was a drive for a constitutional amendment to make ss marriage the law of the land . And lets say that it would depend on a majority of the states first making their own state laes ,before such an amendment coud be passes . And lets say that NJ was the last State needed and that Corzine won by 2000 votes and passed this in the State . And because of that they were able to pass a US constitutional amendment now making it official Federal law that SS marriage is the law of our Country rch”l . Now our few thousand votes were responsible for this gezeira rch”l . How would we feel then .
    ?

I understand this is only a hypothetical ,but it is within the realm of the possible . Just something to think about

  58. Christie is a Rosho and a Mushchos. He arranged to have davka DEMOCRATIC POLITICIANS entrapped and then covered up his political vendetta by arranging to have headlines of RABBIS ARRESTED who were entrapped. He is an antisemite running after Kovod and power at any price. He wants to be lauded as fighting corruption only to be more corrupt and get away with it. He is a vicious vindictive enemy and can’t be voted for, no matter what.

  59. My Goodness: even if every frum guy went off programs, you’re taxes wouldn’t go down. It is still a very small percentage in comparison to the whole USA. Besides if tax money is freed up, it will be used for something else or a new program will be created. It won’t go back to the taxpayer.
In addition to all this, what about ” nosei be’oil im chaveiro” ? I assume you consider yourelf a Shomer Torah U’mitzvohs.

  60. My post about heter meah was nothing against reb malkiel in a personal way! I actually had no clue (just had to call a friend and ask why that post might have been removed). In any event….. Reb Malkiel is doing what’s best for the vaad- he is family!! So does negeus play a part???

  61. NO taxation without representation – its time for a new vaad that represents the ENTIRE tzibbur in lakewood enough of self interest we have to elect members that all segments in lakewood will be represented and not be bullied and lied to.
the vaad has single handidly destroyed the achdus and unity of our voting block causing bitterness , mistrust , and divisivness across town they must rectify it otherwise a strong opposition will arise and rightfully so but that will be the end of achdus of the tzibbur.

  62. not sure: your hypothetical is way off….The US never under no circumstances will pass a constitutional amendment involving ss marriage…Regulations concerning domestic relations and real property matters are regulated solely by states….

Again, Christie supports Civil Unions for ss which is different from ss marriage in name only.

I don’t put my trust in Food Stamps, but I know many who rely on them to feed their families. In the case programs end, will you people calling on the oilom to trust Hashem, mortgage your homes to pay for soup kitchens and medical expences for those who might need it?…

  63. TLS Are you getting paid by one side not to publish the opinions of some of our Rosh Yershivas ,who many of us consuder Daas Torah ? Please explain

  64. Can you please explain to some of us who are frustrated what gets posted and what doesn’t? Why don’t you allow for Rav Shachs letter to be posted? How can you not post it?

  65. Christie is a family man and straight. Ever wonder what was going on when Corzine had his accident on the Turnpike? He told the driver to use both hands, but it just did not go well, especially without a seatbelt! Vote Christie, and you will not regret it. Right, Reb Yisroel??

  66. yungerman4christie: you have a very unhealthy imagination…it looks like we really must fight ss agenda tooth and nail, so our oilom not be affected….

  67. yungerman4corzine why does it seem like such a foreign thing to put your trust in hashem. The way you respond seems as if there is a shortage of ways for hashem to provide for his children!

  68. I don’t understand: the TLS is not a place to discuss hashkofa, it’s a community news outlet…That said, I have nothing against trusting Hashem to provide for his children…
