JUST IN: Tropical Storm Hermine strengthens into Hurricane, could affect Ocean County; Tropical Storm Watch Issued for Lakewood [UPDATED]

image[UPDATE BELOW] Tropical Storm Hermine has just strengthened into a hurricane, and it could affect the area this Labor Day weekend.

The storm is taking aim at the Florida Coast, and could hit tonight at 75 MPH. This could be the first hurricane to make landfall in Florida in over 10 years.

According to the National Weather Forecast, ocean County could see heavy rains and gusty winds Shabbos through Wednesday.

“The actual impacts that may occur however are uncertain as these will highly depend on the track an strength of the storm,” the NWS said this afternoon.

UPDATE 4:45PM: The NWS has just issued a Storm Watch for Lakewood and Toms River. Strong winds and rain could hit the area writhing the next 48 hours, the Service said.
