The board of the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey has unanimously approved an increase in tolls at its bridges and tunnels, including the Lincoln and Holland tunnels, and the Outerbridge, Goethals, and Bayonne bridges. Fares on trains to JFK and Newark airports, as well as PATH rail service will also go up.

Cash tolls will be increasing from $15 to $16, and EZ-Pass rates will go up by $1.25. The Port Authority says it needs to hike toll rates to adjust for inflation and raise capital for $5 billion in planned upgrades and capital projects.

The toll increases will go into effect by January 1st, 2020.
