  1. I will never understand why The Lakewood Scoop does not post any information about the location of breaking news events. I get it: there are some looky-loos who have nothing better to do than to go to the scene. But 1. First responders know how to establish a perimeter to keep anyone from interfering and 2. You could at least say what section of town it is. For example “the Industrial Park”.

The current policy defies basic rules and goals of journalism, which is to inform the public of facts.

    • I don’t agree with you, as Jews we are expected to live to a standard higher and think before we open our mouth and not just generate the next big hock without taking into account it’s effects like sending a mob of ambulance chasers to a potentially dangerous spot under investigation, Kudos to the scoop for being careful, the opposite approach has led to the families of victims of terrorism find out from the news that their relatives were killed r”l

      • Respectfully disagree and wondering why you ignored the fact that I addressed the “ambulance chaser” issue very simply. It is not idle curiosity or the next big hock that someone wants to know where a crime took place to inform themselves of potential dangers or dangerous areas. If you are going to run a news organization, then report the news. Reporting without details is actually more likely to appeal to idle curiosity since it serves no function at all.

    • I dont know or care what the “basic rules and goals” of “Journalism” are.

The media, by all accounts is a bunch of lying miscreants and fools who make their money off of others misfortune.

By contrast I enjoy the Lakewood Scoop which posts “interesting” info, without prying open the privacy of people or communities to be preyed on.

They will state the location if its needed, not so people can check off their useless “fact” lists.

      • You “don’t know and don’t care about basic rules of journalism”? I’m truly sorry for your intellectual poverty.

Yes, there is terrible media malpractice with devastating results. But I am not speaking to political, financial or other nuanced reporting or analysis. I’m talking about a “straight news” item about a local stabbing. The Scoop comes closer to the money driven “click bait” model when they headline a story and fail to deliver useful information in the body of the article. If you find that “interesting” you again reveal a surprising shortage of intellectual curiosity about the world around you. I don’t mean to insult; I only hope you will reconsider your view.

I never suggested in any way, shape or form that the Scoop should invade anyone’s privacy, so that is a pointless straw man argument.

  2. These articles are not news articles, just empty clickbait. This doesn’t even tell you half the story. Why is it that in almost every story that is posted are missing vital information. Like names, timeline, location and names of people providing the information. I can understand if it’s news hot off the press but at least give an update with the missing information.
