JUST IN: Multiple Lakewood homes evacuated after lightning strike ignites underground gas line [VIDEOS]

Multiple Lakewood residences were evacuated after a lighting strike apparently struck an underground gas line, officials tell TLS.

The incident happened shortly before 6:00 AM.

According to their preliminary investigation, officials say it appears the lightning struck a tree and and underground pipe on Madison Avenue, setting the line on fire.

Firefighters are awaiting the arrival of the gas company in order to extinguish the fire.
