There is a mistake on the official election notice for Lakewood, officials are warning tonight.
The ballot lists a two-year open seat for the Board of Education, however, that seat was recently filled by Ms. Thea Jackson. Being that she was sworn in August, her term will be counted for this year.
The District released the following statement:
“Please be advised that the 2 year open board seat which appears on the ballot is not, in fact, an open seat. The seat was filled by Ms. Thea Jackson after the balloting information was sent to the County Board of Elections. The seat will not be up until next year for the balance of the term.”
Any votes or write-ins for the seat, will be invalid.
Based on the official ballot, the Lakewood Vaad stated, “For the 2 year term, please write in Moshe Kuperwasser and for the one year term please write in Moshe Raitzik.” However, the only remaining valid write-in according to the notice, would be the one for Moshe Raizik (the one-year term).
