A powerful storm swept through Ocean County this evening, leaving hundreds of residents in Lakewood without power. Among the affected locations is the local hospital, which is currently operating on backup generators.
According to Chaveirim, widespread flooding has impacted many homes throughout the area. Numerous roads are submerged, creating dangerous driving conditions and significant traffic disruptions. Several traffic lights are also reported to be out.
Ateres Reva, a wedding hall in Lakewood, is also out of power. Chaveirim is on its way with generators.
Emergency personnel are urging residents to stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary and to report any downed power lines or hazardous conditions.
Crews are actively working to restore power and clear floodwaters, but there is no current estimate for full restoration.
This is a developing story.

Westgate lost power
Instead of calling it an “outage” when Westgate loses power, they should just call it an “innage” on the occasions that Westgate *has* power.
Sunset is a back on, B”H!

Chaveirem is a volunteer service for emergencies it’s ridiculous that wedding halls rely on them as a free long term service for when they lose power. Chaveirem should give these halls a deadline to put in their own generators or they will stop responding.
They are a Chessed organization happy to help the Klal.
Let them decide the limits of their chessed activities.
this is insane- how much longer are we just going to pay jcp&l ridiculous prices for such lousy service??? this is the 3rd blackout I had this week
This was a major storm with lighting strikes. Why do you blame JCP&L for gods actions…..?
Dear TLS Editor,
A rainbow is not such a good sign as we know, and is not supposed to be publicized.
Was thinking the same
What I find disturbing is the town allowed builders to build all these homes in an area that is obviously prone to flooding without the proper infrastructure for drainage ,every time there is a heavy down pour this happens ,shameful ,feel sorry for these home owners that they have to put up with this !!! As far as the loss of power that blame has to go to JCP&L ,certainly need to be addressed to prevent future outages
Dear Lakewood Community,
I understand we live in Lakewood and you are paying Taxes to the Lakewood government and the NJ STATE. There is a serious problem with the government in Lakewood. They are not taking proper care of this community. 1. FAILED TO PUT ALL SEWER DRAINS ON ALL STREETS IN THIS TOWNSHIP AND THE STATE GOVERNMENT TOO. 2. STREET LIGHTS ARE MOSTLY OUT ON OUR STREET IN THIS TOWNSHIP. 3. NO PARKING GARAGE ON MUNICIPAL PARKING LOTS. 4. ROUTE 9 AND ROUTE 88 ARE HORRIBLE TO DRIVE ON. 5. THE ROUTE 9 AND ROUTE 88 INTERSECTION NEEDS A SIGN SAYING NO BLOCKING THE BOX. 6. NEED NEW SIGN ALONG ROUTE 9 NO LEFT TURN AND NO GOING STRAIGHT. 7. NEED PARKING AUTHORITY TO END ALL DANGEROUS PARKING IN OUR TOWNSHIP. 8. NEED BETTER POLICE TO END AGGRESSIVE DRIVERS IN THIS TOWNSHIP. 9. PUT MORE TRAFFIC LIGHTS IN THIS TOWNSHIP TO END LONG WAITING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN. 10. BETTER SYSTEM CLEANING OUR SEWERS EVERY DAY AT ALL LOCATIONS TO PREVENT FLOODING. WHY DO WE HAVE BAD GOVERNMENTS IN THIS TOWNSHIP WHO WE PAY OUR TAXES AND FAIL TO MAINTAIN THIS LISTING ABOVE? PLEASE FEEL FREE TO COMMENT ON MY MESSAGE AND LET OUR VOICE BE HEARD.
