JUST IN: Driver dies following accident in Lakewood (PHOTOS)

A driver died following an accident this afternoon, officials confirm to TLS.

Shortly before 4 PM, police and EMS responded to Leisure Village East for the reports of a vehicle into a tree. Upon arrival, the driver of the vehicle was found to be unconscious. A woman in the car was also injured.

Officials say it appears the elderly male suffered a medical episode, causing the crash.

EMS performed CPR on the patient and transported him to Ocean Medical Center, where he died.

Lakewood’s Traffic Safety Department, CSI and the Prosecutor’s Office are investigating.
