An arrest has been made in the hit and run which left a cyclist in Lakewood dead, Detective Liutenant Greg Staffordsmith confirms to TLS.
“In the hours after the crash, Det. Brad Frank from the OCPO located a vehicle that matched the description of the one that fled the scene, in an apartment complex in Brick,” Staffordsmith said. “Upon closer examination, the vehicle exhibited damage to the front end consistent with striking the pedal cyclist.” Assisting in the investigation, was LPD’s Traffic Safety division.
The vehicle was seized for the purpose of obtaining a search warrant. Items recovered inside led police to Jackson, where they ultimately located the suspect, 55-year-old Andres Govea Montoya of Brick.
“Further investigation led to charges of leaving the scene of a fatal accident and causing death while driving with a suspended license,” Staffordsmith said. Montoya was later transported to the Ocean County Jail.

so sad. unfortunately here we have another case of an unlicensed uninsured driver that will not be held monetarily accountable. We need to stop all the out of state cars and check for valid license and insurance. Its pathetic how everyone turns a blind eye to this crime.
