They know what they’re doing, and would not invest in emails if it didn’t pay off.

2. It’s inexpensive. For just a few dollars a month, you can run a full-blown email marketing system. Great email marketing companies out there like AWeber and InfusionSoft that make it very affordable.

3. It’s easy. These days, email marketing companies make it super simple to set up and run your account, even if you’re not tech savvy. Everything is automated, and they walk you through it step by step. If you can set up a Gmail account, you can probably figure it out. Still intimidated? You can outsource it to an online freelancer who specializes in email marketing.

4. You have an email list anyway. If you have collected your customers’ email addresses, but don’t know how to leverage them, this is a no-brainer. You already have “warm leads”, which means people who voluntarily gave you their email address. That’s extremely valuable, something most businesses would pay a lot of money for.

5. Great way to stay connected. If your emails are well-written, and people click them open, it’s almost guaranteed to help your business, even if they don’t respond to that day’s promotion. By reading your emails once a week, you’ll stay at the top of their minds, refer you to friends, and when they’re ready to buy, they will remember you.

6. Emails get forwarded. If you send out interesting content with useful tidbits, readers will happily pass it along to friends and relatives, which gets you more mileage from your campaign

7. Control. With email advertising, you get to decide WHEN to send, and WHO to send to. If something new comes up that you want to share, you can instantly send a blast, no preparation needed. Way more control than an ad in a magazine.

But if you have engaging emails written by someone who knows what he’s doing, by an email marketing expert who can write really fun and informative emails, with attention-grabbing subject lines that get people to click, you can make you a lot of money.

When I write emails for my clients, one piece of advice I always give is to know their goal ahead of time, and define the result they want to achieve. Are they trying to drive traffic to their website? Get people to attend their event? Request a consultation?

Your email needs to be carefully written to guide readers to take action. It takes planning and strategy. Once you know what you want customers to do, you can make every line of your email help persuade them.

  1. Great article. We run Jblasts occasionally for our company, and they are amazing. They pay for themselves in no time, and the exposure it gives us is remarkable. We then forward the Jblast (which they set up for us and design) to our own email list for an even greater punch. email marketing is definitely the wave of the present and the future!
