After Paralyzing Storm, Lakewood Digging Out

whispering_pines_snow_man29:42 a.m. We have been receiving emails all morning from many residents about why their streets have not seen a plow and where the DPW is. TLS spoke with Department of Public Works Head John Franklin moments ago who said “We got a lot of snow and it’s taking us double the time to get things done”. “Just tell people not to get nervous please, we are doing the best we can”. He said the trucks are out there full force plowing and salting. He also added, that the streets which have vehicles parked along the roads are complicating the cleanup process. TLS will continue to monitor the situation and keep you informed with all further updates.
10:24 a.m. If your believe your street has been missed, post it here and we will submit it to the appropriate parties.

11:21 a.m. ‘RebRambo’ writes: Thank you TLS for unbelievable coverage of the storm! Thank you John Franklin and Lakewood Public works! You guys are really working hard and we truly appreciate it! Not to sound selfish but Murray, Elaine, Summit, Williams South can use a plow. Also, the 9 has slabs of ice running the length from beginning of Lakewood. Keep up the great work and once again, THANKS!!!

  1. # 46 – You can still plow your own street. By you helping out so kindly, it will allow some township employee to avoid having to be collecting more overtime and be able to go to his home and finally get some sleep. This will in effect help lower your taxes as you will not have to pay the extra OT to the township employees. Enjoy shoveling.

  2. The numbering for this board is horrendous. Why does every page start with 1 again. If there is only 50 posts per page then start the second page with 51. Don’t restart the numbering !!!

  3. How about Glen North, Chicanos. New Central is not part of the township but maybe you can pass the message on to the proper parties. I hate to say it but last storm the streets were plowed beautifuly this time , however, they didn’t quite get the job done.

Does Lakewood really have snow plows out today? My street (14th st area) is still not plowed and after shoveling myself out, I hope they won’t undo all my hard work.

  5. We just got a plow [pick up truck] on Shoshana and Dena, I think we”re going to make a kiddush on Shabbos [if it doesn’t snow again.]

  6. We really appreciate all the plowing that was done in the last storm, and i really hate to complain. Driving around lakewood today was a nightmare. most streets are not done. Its already late in the day and no one i have spoke to has seen a plow. Whats going on? can we have some answers.please?

  7. Monmouth and princeton aves.all side streets from both aves.in front of the hatzaloh garage on heatwood.none of these streets plowed.this is a terrib le job

  8. theres no need to scream just say please and thank you. the dpw is working very hard ever since the morning and they dont need your complaints. just simply say that your street wasnt plowed. and if you really have to go somewhere then get up and get all your neighbors and shovel youur own street.

  9. They may be working hard but they are definitely not working smart! There wouldn’t be this many people complaining if the LPW were doing a good job.

  10. we understand the hard work. There has been all day for the plows to get out there, plus the storm was not a surprise. As you can read here, most places and streets have not been plowed. it is 6:00 P.M.How patient are we to be? Wake up people something is wrong here. Why can’t you get Mayer langert,r’ lichtenstein,r’ Miller to make a statement as to what the delay is. No gas?

  11. Glen and Carlton South have not been plowed at all yet.
Just told by a plow driver that there are only 2 plows currently operational in the whole town!!! Is this why we pay so much property tax?

  12. THE DPW in the past has stated they do the Primary roads first then secondary roads. The problem is that most streets have cars on both sides or even cars on one side and the cars are not at the curb line. That means it takes extra time to get down the street if they can at all. And with over 30 inches of snow on the ground it takes time to get it all out of the way. It doesn’t help that people are wanting to be first on the list. Personally my neighborhood is one of the last to be gone thru but hey its SNOW it takes time..the drivers are not miracle workers..they have to keep going..some of these guys are out all week working and look they are not complaining so if you see them..thank them..they are working hard for this town..doing it one street at a time. JEEZ

  13. They just started on Glen N, Tell them to stay home we’ll manage without them we got out and shoveled now they will come and block up our driveways! They missed it.

  14. dont know the halacha but i remember in Yerushalayim the Yerushalmis made a whole tumult about a snowman with a face b/c it might be a pesel

  15. To all the LPW plowers: Thank you for doing a phenomenal job! Less than 24 hours after the storm you can see the blacktop on most streets! It was a job well done! THANK YOU!

  16. its crucial [when bus service resumes]parents be aware there are no corners [because of high snow volume].therefore, our children will no choice but to stand in the street.parents who cannot transport their children must supervise them at bus stops.any children standing on slippery snowbanks should be directed to climb down to prevent them slipping into the traffic.may the sun come out, temps rise so all of our problems are solved!

  17. We love the snow please do not plow Tori Ct and Pamela. If anyone has extra snow please feel free to truck it over to Tori CT we LOVE THE SNOW. If anyone wants to borrow our shovels we have a gmach for shovels on Tori CT.

  18. The plow arrived. In addition to all the snow, there were numerous trees and wires down to complicate and slow things. Thanks for working through the night and on the holiday to get the job done. The nasty comments relative to this storm show a lack of respect and knowlege. This site works well to provide information needed, and I’m happy to see that most commentors understand. Thanks again to LPW and TLS.
