John Franklin: Put Trash Out As Usual

John Franklin Public worksWith the next big storm looming, several readers have inquired about the Trash Pick-up schedule. TLS spoke with Department of Public Works Head John Franklin moments ago who said that if your scheduled Trash pick-up is Wednesday or Thursday, “put the bins out as usual and we’ll try to get to them”. However, he asked that you place the bin as close to the curb as possible. Friday is a Holiday.

  4. For zone 3 (regular pickup Thurs.)

    If there Is a holiday on Thursday, the collection will be on Wednesday.

    If there is a holiday on Friday, the Friday collection will be on Thursday and the Thursday collection will be on Wednesday

  5. I just wanted to thank anyone who was involved in the snow clean up for the storm this past weekend. There were many signs of improvement from the last storm, and I and many people who I discussed this with agree. I constantly saw snow plows and there were many streets cleared down to the black top. There really was a great change. Keep it up.

    Lets compliment them when they deserve it not only be critical when we are not happy.

  6. I don’t get it.
    Cars block the road, I understand.
    But the garbage bins; will the plows just plow all the snow over them and bury them, or will the plows just plow the bins along with the snow?

  8. Put the garbage bins out in the street? How exactly will they plow the streets with hundreds of bins in the roadway???!! Can someone answer what should be done? Thanks!

  10. Frankly, what is the sense in putting out garbage cans??
    1) Any available PW driver should be plowing and nothing else
    2) What is the point of keeping cars off the road and then telling everyone to put the cans there instead?
    3) Garbage collection can be done on the holiday too…just as when there is a need to plow it is done on holidays too.
    Trying to please all (probably because some will complain they didn’t have garbage collection) will just lead to pleasing nobody.
    So Mr Franklin, just stick to the plowing!!!
