JCP&L Customers To See 5% Reduction Starting This Month

jcpl squankum rdStarting this month, Jersey Central Power & Light customer will see a 5% reduction in their electric bills, the company said. The reduction in the rate the company says, is attributable to a fall in the wholesale price of energy. So if your electric bill was $650, you can expect a savings of about $32.

JCP&L, a First Energy company, is the supplier of electricity for almost all of Ocean County.

  1. #3 no you will not, although your rate from Viridian (or other supplier) may be lower already. You can check this by comparing your price to compare on page 1 of your July bill (where this rate should show) with the rate you are paying your supplier (on pg 3). If your supplier only gives a bottom line price and not a rate (tells you something) then divide their price including tax by your kWh used to get your rate.

  2. would that mean if my bill was $759,644.00 then I would be saving $37,982.20 ?!! SWEET!!!!! I’m already counting my savings!!!!

  3. Actually you will end up paying more now with Viridian because the savings were minimal to begin with . They raised the rates as soon as they signed up a whole bunch of people. Unless this move forces Viridian to drop the back the rates.

  4. to comment #6 that is not true, since viridian is a variable rate it is consistanly lower than jcpl, the only ones to worry about are the companies that lock you into a fixed rate.

  5. Viridian will still be cheaper. A. As they save more then 5% and they get for cheaper due to regulation rules. B. All 3rd party companys will always be cheaper there getting from JCP&L as that the law… FYI JCP&L is a service not supplier BGS is your provider they are auto 3rd party from JCP&L

  6. Hi there, I am also Viridian customer, on their site you can see all historical rates to compare. March, April, May it was savings 4.5%. In June it should be 6.2%. I just got my bill for May. I used 4,521 kwH X $0.115 (price to compare)=$519.92 Viridian charged me $488.74 So I saved $31.18 it is 6%. Viridian buys wholesale and sell retail so if wholesale price goes down Viridian price will go down. That is the whole point of the deregulation to bring prices down. As a customer’s we all win.

  7. Viridian is a stable very viable company. Pyramid schemes involve no product and are illegal. How could Viridian be licensed in 6 states by the public utility commissions (Boards)? Viridian is also a very transparent company. All rate history is listed for the last 12 months in each market and utility we service.

One thing I learned over 20 years ago is that you will never become successful trying to knock what someone else has built. Telling someone that your electric service will be disrupted if Viridian were to fail is just a lie, deceptive and unprofessional.

Stay with Viridian and save money and help the environment for many years to come.
