Jahmell Crockam To Be Sentenced Next Week To Life In Prison

Jahmell Crockam, the man convicted of killing Lakewood Police Officer Chris Matlosz, will be sentenced next week, an Ocean County Court official confirmed to TLS.

Crockam, 20, was convicted on all charges in front of a Jury with a unanimous verdict on February 16, but a Judge will hand over the sentence on March 22.

He will spend the rest of his life behind bars and will not be eligible for parole.

Why do you have to print all these base and disgusting comments? Justice is served because it has to be in a normally functioning society. After the fact, all the mean spirited and vengeful comments have no place in a civil forum.

#7 its called freedom of speech!! this boy is a peice of dirt, not worth the air we breath so if someone feels he should put to death or get “paybacks” in jail then we have the right to voice it. If you dont like it, dont read the comments.

I am not sure why we need to keep him in prison costing us millions of dollars. Put him to work cleaning toilets or other work to show the kids examples of what killing a person will cost you.

i’m not defending him, but they shouldn’t give him life without parole. they should for example sentence him to life with possible parole after 60 years. an 80 year old man shouldn’t suffer for a crime he commited 60 years ago. a person should always be given a chance to mend his ways no matter what he did.

I hope this will put closure to a difficult chapter for the people of Lakewood, the LPD, and most of all to Kelly and their respective families. May god bless them all and turn their sorrow into joy and shower them with renewed happy times that will create wonderful everlasting memories!!

True you’d think a person should get more of a punishment for killing a human being, but we can’t do anything about it. What’s done is done. The main thing is that this guy will never be allowed on the streets again. A big thank you to the police officers who put him in custody to keep us safe.

Sad. The previous poster is right. It’ll cost us $$ to feed him. He also gets free health care. & Free dental care in prison. It’ll cost us over $1,000,000.00 over his lifetime. We can execute him for 6 bucks. Chris will never again see a sunset. Sav will. Very sad. RIP 317 – we miss you. DB

Build a hundred foot high wall, slanting inward on a deserted island and drop ’em in by parachute. OK, forget the parachute.

20. Please. I am not sure what the judicial arrangements were for a Nochri who was a Rozeach in historical times. But certainly, the achzariyus in your comment is uncalled for in a civilized world that is not run by vigilantes and blood thirsty revenge mongers. Please cut the comments. 60 or 80 years i s long time to ponder the value of a human life. It serves as a better deterrent than the death penalty. I for one have tremendous pity for Crockham,’s family and for his personal missed opportunities. A life is a terrible thing to waste.

He’s lucky he will spend his life behind bar. Because, if he continued to walk the street, he would be on death row. Street justice!!
