Jackson To Maintain Bus Routes, Will Not Be Adding More

In a letter released by the Jackson School District, Director of Transportation John Griffiths said that busing for this coming academic year will only be provided to schools that have been serviced in the past, and new schools will not be able to be added.

Griffiths wrote that other schools may be picked up by other transportation services, but if not, parents will receive aid-in-lieu of busing service.

If Jackson is notified of any other routes being picked up, they will notify the school who will then notify parents.

Due to schools having grown and overcrowded buses, many students from schools being provided busing will not have transportation this coming year. Parents of these students should receive a letter in the mail regarding this by August 1st.

  1. Can they do something for families who had one of their few children kicked off the route, and other kids still in the route?
They will not get aid in lieu for those kids who are officially given a spot on the bus, yet in reality have to drive full time because one child wasn’t.
Is it time to split two-school routes that can no longer fit students from both?
