Jackson PD Officer, Treated by Hatzolah After Crashing Patrol Car, Issues Hatzolah Volunteer Tickets Weeks Later

Jackson PD has issued 14 tickets to volunteers over the past two weeks alone

TLS has learned of a troubling pattern of harassment against Hatzolah volunteer EMTs by members of the Jackson Police Department, raising serious concerns for public safety.

Over the past two weeks alone, 14 tickets have been issued to Hatzolah volunteers while en route to or on the scene of emergencies. Volunteers report being cursed at and berated in some of the most derogatory ways, treatment not seen toward other first responder agencies.

Officer Treated by Hatzolah, Then Writes Summons

In a stunning twist, Officer Dan Scharff, who recently crashed his patrol car while driving 98 MPH and was treated at the scene by Hatzolah, has since issued summons to a Hatzolah volunteer at the scene of a patient suffering a medical emergency.

Blocked From Treating Patients

TLS has also learned that Officer Zach White allegedly stopped a Hatzolah volunteer from treating victims at a motor vehicle accident. Days later, that same volunteer reportedly received a slew of fabricated summonses in the mail.

Dysfunction and Internal Battles

According to sources, this comes amid a toxic environment within the Jackson Police Department. Nearly two years ago, a Director of Public Safety was appointed after rank-and-file officers lost faith in their chief of police. Observers say Hatzolah may now be caught in the middle of an internal power struggle, with rogue officers escalating tensions to apply political pressure on department leadership.

Antisemitic Undertones Reported

Bystanders have reported hearing officers at scenes refer to Hatzolah volunteers and Jewish residents with phrases such as “you guys” and other derogatory remarks. TLS has learned that some officers, resistant to Jackson’s demographic changes, may be allowing bias to guide their actions.

Public Safety at Risk

Insiders warn that the consequences of these actions go far beyond politics. By delaying care, blocking EMTs, or intimidating volunteers, lives are being placed in jeopardy. “This isn’t just harassment—it’s dangerous,” one source said.

The Irony

Ironically, even as Hatzolah faces harassment, Jackson Police have themselves turned to Hatzolah for critical backup. In one recent homicide, TLS has learned that Hatzolah was called in after 911 services were unavailable.

Stating that he should loose his job is asinine. You would want him coming to you that fast should you be in need of help.

It’s possible that the accident caused the Police officer memory damage.

Maybe its time to set an organized protest outside Jackson PD.
Call in DEPT OF Justice the NJ state police to investigate these actions.

All our lives are at stake when police egotistical bigotry become before our safety and health. A few rotten 🍎 apples. Is it the culture of the JACKSON PD. could be from what I have heard from a Bi racial couple who Jackson PD did almost nothing when they were harassed. This was over a decade ago but culture or deep rooted hatred doesn’t change so quickly.

Never. Every 70 years there is something that would otherwise seem simple and clear that appears confusing. The first few decades of last century it was the various social and political movements. Now it’s the הבדל בין ישראל לעמים that people can’t seem to see the writing on the wall….

Turning down the static, are Hatzala volunteers permitted according to law to response or not?

All these police corruption stories are liable to teach children to mistrust the local cops, and then when they visit out of town and behave towards other police men with suspicion, people will say about them “what can you expect? they grew up in Jackson!”, so for the sake of our children, maybe these stories should be kept out of sight so kids can’t find out about them?

Not everything that’s true needs to become the talk of town!

Not true at all.
Although I’m not a fan of TLS, this is not George Floyd/BLM behavior. We very much respect and support law enforcement. What you have here is something deliberate happening which is coming from a mixture of antisemitism and internal decay. The Jew is always an easy scapegoat or target and that’s the way it’s been for thousands of years but when the results can be dangerous, we it’s not the time to lay low.
I’ve been around long enough to remember when Lakewood had issues with their PD (remember Hornak?), and the truth is individuals need to be called out when they do stupid and hate-filled things. You don’t even have to go back in time too far – remember that teenage kid from a certain community who made up a story resulting in an innocent man being behind bars for a number of days??? I suppose we should have just shoved that under the rug so our kids don’t have to hear about it? Should we have kept that story out of sight?

I saw a different news piece that claimed to report a story where Jackson PD stopped a Hatzolah member because he was going to park in a handicap spot. That’s crazy.
and to make things even worse, you can clearly see there that the Police officers themselves were parked across 2 or 3 handicapped spots themselves!

The only way to get a PD to change is public awareness, spreading their egregious mistakes with the public and of course taking them to court for a lawsuit if applicable.

Most police officers are hero’s. Serving their community with dignity and respect for all. Everyone, including the PD, are happy to get rid of the idiot/bigot cops that get through the system. They do need to be called out.

None of us would survive without Hatzalah !! they are selfless people. However, sometimes I wonder, when members come with fancy cars and loads of lights, if that sparks jealously amoungst the police officers. People are entitled to buy any car they want but I wonder if they tone down the lights, if that would help.

In New Promotional Offer, Jackson PD Handing Out Free Traffic Tickets To Anyone Who Lends a Helping Hand to a Police Officer
The Jackson PD has introduced a new promotional offer handing out free traffic tickets to anyone who lends a helping hand to a local police officer.
“We’ve already tasted the fruits of this incredible promotional offer,” said a longtime Hatzolah member, who spoke to reporters Tuesday on condition of anonymity. “One of our volunteers recently assisted a Jackson police officer, and shortly thereafter, Hatzolah members received dozens of gift-wrapped traffic tickets as part of the Jackson Police Department’s “Help Us, And Receive A Traffic Ticket” promotion.”
A Hatzolah volunteer, who recently received dozens of sparkling, brand new traffic tickets in the mail after lending assistance to a Jackson police officer, humbly confided to reporters that he is “undeserving and unworthy of such promotional rewards.”
“I appreciate those shiny, brand new traffic tickets,” he said, “but frankly, I shouldn’t be receiving any of these promotional rewards because I was simply performing my heart’s obligation by helping out that police officer in his time of need,”
“I feel like an incredible slob accepting these traffic ticket gifts just because I helped out a distressed police officer in his time of need,” the Hatzolah volunteer added, “I wouldn’t mind returning the tickets to the police dept., but I don’t want to look like an unappreciative ingrate who refuses to accept friendly gifts.”
However, the Jackson Police Dept. issued a statement later in the day saying that: “Our latest promotional offer of gifting traffic tickets to compassionate individuals and organizations who help us out or, who lend assistance to people in need of medical attention, is the least we can do to show our appreciation to those kindhearted volunteers.”
“There’s no need to feel guilty about accepting traffic ticket gifts from us,” the statement added, “because this is simply our way of thanking you for helping us. Let’s face it, good-hearted people like you deserve all the traffic ticket rewards you can get.”

I got blamed for doing something officer wanted me to do illeagel move and blamed me for accident

Bad Apple in every bunch.

did I read that correctly? 98 MPH?? 98??? Is there a way to issue the cop a ticket for going over double the posted speed limit? There’s an understanding that cops may speed for an emergency. But more than double the speed limit. On residential roads. We are not talking about highways what there’s no streets off the highway. This officer should be arrested for the speed. Lights and sirens are meant to help move traffic. Not to allow you to speed like that.

The Hatzolah volunteers need to follow the same laws and rules and any other volunteer EMS or fire company do when responding to calls. The red lights are not permitted nor is driving like a maniac and running people off the road creating unsafe situations. Not all volunteers drive like that but the ones that do, should get tickets and consequences. Everyone should be held to the same standards.

I think everyone should be held to the same standards. Anyone driving a vehicle in an emergency response situation should be required to have additional training. The public should not be placed in potentially dangerous situations.

‘the red lights are not permitted’

Google tells me:

An EMT responding to an emergency in his personal car may go through a red light if he has flashing lights and/or sirens.

(As with any emergency services, he is not absolved if he causes an accident, but he is permitted to do it if it’s safe.)

Not everything needs to be twisted into a race/religion issue. I’m sure the outcome would have been the same if it was a Jackson first aid squad or fire department member.

How is this harassment? I’m sure Jackson first aid or fire department members would have gotten the same treatment. Why bring race/religion into it?

This reminds me of an article written years ago about the Lakewood pol8ce department writing a volunteer a ticket who had positioned their vehicle unsafely on route 9. Receiving tickets for traffic infractions should happen. It happens all over the country. A volunteer driving their person car with lights is still restricted to traffic and safety laws. So are ambulances, fire trucks, and police vehicles. I have witnessed volunteers carelessly and recklessly commit traffic offenses. Although hatzolah volunteers are doing a great things they still should be held accountable for committing infractions. They are supposed to act in a way representative of the uniform worn by emergency personnel. I have worked and also been a volunteer over my years and was trained under the same guidelines that the state of NJ sets forth for emergency vehicles. Accountability is a part of life there is no reason to scream hate crime when a town is holding people accountable for driving unsafely. Furthermore I find it interesting that a private volunteer organization uses blue and red lights along with sirens on personal vehicles as if they’re marked emergency vehicles. Maybe both Jackson PD and hatzolah should be looked at by the state for compliance issues?

They need to be careful for safety purposes, but this was NOT a moving violation. He is permitted to park in a handicap spot during an emergency.

He wasn’t even blocking anyone as there were clearly other spots open.
