The tornado in Jackson and other New Jersey Townships did millions of dollars in damage, but officials today are realizing the extent of the miracle.
“It’s amazing there was no loss of life or serious injury,” Jackson Mayor Mike Reina told TLS. “Considering that people were out and about at the time, taking out the garbage or what not, it’s truly amazing.”
Reina noted how the “tornado interestingly skipped around – ripped out a ton of trees, but luckily nobody got seriously hurt or killed.”
Close to 10,000 people in Jackson lost power, as well as thousands of JCP&L customers in Howell, Lakewood and other areas.
This afternoon, Mayor Reina met with personnel from the State Police, National Weather Service, and other officials surveying the damage around the Township.
The Mayor also thanked all emergency personnel, particularly Chaveirim volunteers.
“Chaveirim was amazing, they put in tremendous tremendous effort,” Reina said.
This hit westgate as well. I never heard or saw anything like it in my life. It pulled a tree straight of the ground in front of my house. Major neis no-one got hurt. It was during Shalosh Seudos when no-one was outside. A mere half hour earlier, there were many families and kids outside.
Yes Mayor, you are right, it really was amazing that there was no loss of life.
Thank You Hashem.
Thank you Mayor for acknowledging the hard work of the volunteers, emergency personnel and also the wonderful Chaveirim volunteers. It is a pleasure and a honor to live amongst such great volunteers.
