Jackson Mayor Mike Reina, along with Council members Jennifer Kuhn and Scott Sargent, announced today that they have successfully negotiated the preservation of 10 additional acres in critical open space on Leesville Road.
“This significant addition to our open space program will preserve these acres for generations to come and marks another positive step forward in our commitment to maintaining the character of Jackson for all residents. Promises made, promises kept,” the trio said in a statement.
Today’s announcement is the latest in a string of property acquisitions announced by the mayor in recent months, including a 32-acre plot on the old Rova Farms property.
Last month, Reina appointed three Frum residents to the township’s Open Space Committee, which is the nine-member advisory board tasked with locating properties for purchase by the Township and providing recommendations at all stages of the process.
More details are expected to be announced at next week’s Township Council meeting where the full Council is expected to vote to approve the purchase.
Preserved until the whining starts that there aren’t enough schools for all the children and they have to bus their little darlings to Lakewood or they have to walk a distance to a shul. Boohoo we sent our children to parochial school all the way in Belmar and had to pay for busing and drive them to the center of town 5 miles away to catch the bus. We didn’t whine or complain or claim antisemitism, our choice our inconvenience.
