Last week, Jackson Fire District #3 (Station 55) officially transitioned to a full-time staffing model — a major step in enhancing emergency response coverage for the community.
In July, TLS reported that Jackson Fire District #2 (Whitesville and Cassville stations) launched its own full-time staffing model. Now, District #3 has followed suit.
“This change ensures the community continues to receive the highest level of service—day or night,” the firefighters’ union said. “A special thank you to the Board of Fire Commissioners, Fire District #3, and Deputy Chief Ed Moore as we make this transition into the future.”
Chief Ed Moore told TLS that the shift has been a carefully planned process between the fire company, the union, and the district. It began a couple of years ago with adding staff and partnering with District #2 for weekend and holiday coverage. This year, it expanded into full 24-hour staffing.
“We are building up by hiring more staff,” Chief Moore said. “We are currently at 1,130 calls for the year, so it’s going to be a busy engine.”
All volunteer companies will continue to provide vital, round-the-clock coverage alongside the career staff.
