Jackson Township Council President Mordechai Burnstein has announced he and newly elected councilman Christopher Pollak will be hosting a community food drive at town hall, together next Sunday.
Pollak will join with Mayor Jennifer L. Kuhn, Council President Burnstein and the Jackson council to team up to feed the hungry.
The drive is to complement a recent visit by Fulfill, a statewide food bank, to continue feeding the estimated 3,800 families in Jackson who rely on SNAP benefits from the federal government.
That program was interrupted this month by the federal government shutdown.
“Jackson needs our entire town to come together to help each other right now,” said Council President Burnstein. “There are people in serious need of assistance in our town. Even though the federal government has reinstated payments, people are still hurting and need to catch up and feed their families.”
“We just came out of a tough campaign, and we still have differences. But while politics in Washington is hurting people, here in Jackson we’re willing to put those differences aside when our residents need us.” Says Councilman elect Pollak.
Residents are asked to bring only canned goods and non-perishable items.
The food drive will take place on Sunday, November 16th from 10:30 am-2:30 pm at town hall, located at 95 Don Connor Boulevard.
Pollak should be grateful that Burnstein is the type to bury the hatchet at the earliest opportunity.
Pollak has said some pretty nasty things about Burnstein.
