[COMMUNICATED] In anticipation of the upcoming Desktop and Networking IT course, PCS spoke to Nathan Brejt, Director of IT, ID Tech Solutions to learn more about the field.

Q: Please tell us about the field of Networking and Desktop Support.

A: The field of Networking and Desktop Support is a fast paced ever-changing environment. The industry is constantly evolving. There are always issues coming up with opportunities to help people using creative problem solving skills.

Q: Why is the IT field growing?

A: Everything runs off of IT, and everything is turning towards becoming digitized and centrally managed from the cloud. The opportunities in the field keep growing as our lifestyles become more and more reliant on IT.

Q: Can you tell us about the current job market?

A: There are a lot of opportunities in the field; it’s difficult to find good IT employees. If you’re good at what you do and you have a passion for it, you will be very heavily sought after. It will be very easy to find a job.

As an IT manager, we do everything we can to hold on to our good employees because they are very valuable.

Q: For whom would you recommend the IT field? 

A: I would recommend it for someone who has always played around with IT and enjoys it, for someone who enjoys understanding new things and is constantly finding creative solutions. For example, someone who understands all the functions on their phone and has it set up just so…

If someone thinks this field is something they might be interested in and good at it, even if they never played around with computers they should definitely give it a try, as it can be a very rewarding and enjoyable career for the right person.

Personally I always loved playing around with cell phones, computers and IT stuff, and one day it occurred to me, “Hey, I can get paid for this! I love doing this anyway.”

Q: Please tell us about your experience with working the PCS graduates?

A: For the guys with the IT ability, this course if perfect. It gives them exposure, direction, and knowledge, and sets them on the right path. It gives them a concise starting point with all the important knowledge, without having to go through a four year program.
